Looking forward to six days of Mexico!
We are heading down to take a look at a new development that some friends of ours are doing. Tom and Carter were going to come but had something come up so Bryner jumped on board and we are out!!

This is the house we are staying at. :)

It was amazing to watch that portion of the Mexican coast grow, while transiting to and from the Canal. Most notable were the increase of lights at night. Seemed to grow out of the jungle in just a few years. Safe travels.

This place is bad ass.. for 20.00 a month a guy stores a car for you and brings it to the airport for you! You can pay extra and they replace tires snd fix things etc..

For those of us that don't have a clue about anything other than TJ and Ensenada, where the hell is this place? Mexico's a pretty big place, and I don't have a map handy...
Hell, last year Ziggy went on vacation and I was playing "Where In The World Is Carmen San Diego"...

Google says:

Troncones is a relatively undeveloped, uncrowded beach village located about 20 miles north west of Zihuatanejo on the coast of the state of Guerrero. It is located in the municipality of La Unión de Isidoro Montes de Oca and has a population of about 593 people.

Isn't Zihuatanejo where Andy Defresne went when he broke out of Shawshank?!

That's waaaaay down there. It does look really nice though.

This is RiverDave.. I made a small tactical error and tried to reset my network settings on my phone to improve internet speeds... DONT EVER DO THAT IN MEXICO! Lol

I am trying to figure out how to unwind that because my phone is basically a brick down here now.

It might be data roaming, or lack of.

I thought that was you limping down the plane gangplank.
you helped me out years ago with some Donzi custom parts.
You will love it there.
My wife I and have been coming to Zihuatanejo and Troncones for 28 years.
we spend 6-8 weeks here a year.
never felt unsafe and the people are phenomenal.
You don’t get the weekend party groups here as it’s too remote to come down for a weekend
The cartels just behead each other, they don’t screw with the tourists whose average age is 60.
As far as internet, be glad you have any speed.
You will not want to leave and when you get home you will probably be thinking of a way to get back.
Enjoy.
Eugene

Give me a call or shoot me a text if ya want to cruise over to the place we are staying for a beer. It’s the second to the last house on the right south of town. White Land Cruiser out front.

RD: Bring me back some firecrackers and a switchblade knife.

this isn’t that kind of place.. lol. Just a few markets, and restaurants.. no cheesy gimmicks, no chicklets, leather goods etc.. no porcelain piggy banks. You can buy flour on the side of the road though.. lol

It’s honestly a sleepy little beach town.

Beautiful spot RD! Like many others on the boards, I haven't felt safe venturing off into Mexico in the last 25 years. We used to go down there frequently when I was younger, but that was a different time. I wish the government down there would get things in order so it was more safe to travel. There are some beautiful places in that country that many folks wont get to experience simply due to the fear of winding up in a 55 gallon drum filled with acid in a remote field. 😥

With that being said, you guys are having a helluva time and it looks absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! Enjoy the vacation and get home safe! 👍

This town is small (I mean real small). I asked a few of the locals if there was any problems or if it was dangerous at night etc.. They literally started laughing. The woman that owns La Mexicana the restaurant we were at late last night said it’s non existent here.

There are for sure problems in Mexico.. but there is problems everywhere.. I haven’t seen anything (I mean anything) that is bad or even typical MX bad.. we haven’t even seen a federale down here.

This bay that we are in I have only seen one kid fishing off the rocks. Stacy and I walked the whole thing last night it was incredible.

Stacy getting into the spirit of things snd making Mexican breakfast..

One of the grounds keepers knocks a coconut off and cut the top off of it for fresh coconut water. I’ll say I hate coconut water in the states (packaged) but love it fresh down here!

Really enjoying your reports and photos. Hope you can keep them coming. Probably a PIA. But, they are appreciated. - Mex or Glamis? That is one hilarious question.

Current situation

I asked our waiter about problems.. he said nobody in this town will so much will say a bad word to you.

Honestly if I had a friend with a passport I’d send for my kids

Any activities available in the immediate or general area --- like sportsfishing, offroading, jungle exploration, rebel forces evasion, scuba --- recreational things ??
I can only sit, hang out, drink and eat for a few hours a day and a vast number of men, even with wife and kids, want to fish for a day. Most of the developments I'm familiar with in Costa Rica and Panama, were based around a marina.
