Back to the ocean.. trying to cut through these massive “ranches” on the beach.. I dunno who owns the one that we couldn’t get by but Jesus Christ it went on for miles.. I’m guessing he’s an “exporter” to the USA.. lol.

my friends had a cabana home 18 miles south of Felipe and they called those Bowling! Like we need to go bowling.... that’s some good times!

shrimp on the stone looks awesome!

cheers!

Consuela bowl has seven bottles of tequila in it.. six shitty ones and one good one.. bunch of different fruits, and two or three big bottles of coke.. 😳🤪

The whole group was hammered and we went through half.. I stuck to beers lol..

in case your wondering it tastes as bad as it sounds.. 🐊

So I’m not overly religious or cosmic etc.. but life throws a lot of things and ya gotta assume the people up above are looking down on you.

Long story short my old mans birthday was Feb 16.. and when he designed a particular toilet valve he named it the 216. That valve ended up being the thing that bought the river house and all the toys etc... So when I was growing up if we would ever go racing or had to assign a number to something the number would always be 216..

It’s why my email address is davejohnson216@gmail etc...

So I get to drinkin last night and thinking about the first time I was here which probably 35-36 years ago.. which was the first time I drove a stick shift car (vw powered rail) etc..

And the last time I was here (which was probably 30 years ago) I was with a guy named Brad Bauder. Well this guy is Brad’s right hand man and has worked for him for 11 years or so.. and I’m bullshitting with him about that

And I look down on the table and see the key to the house and see that we happened to end up randomly in house number

Didn’t notice it until then.. but it was a pretty cool little moment and made me think about my dad etc..

After a pretty serious meat and cheese board dealio “we party” and after the revelry ended up doing a late night jacuzzi deal..

Now you are all caught up. Upwards and Onwards to today’s adventures! Which I believe is gonna be another long offroad ride to a different part we haven’t explored yet.

Now we are talking!...Bay of LA is way far away. Driving on the 5 hwy Gonzaga is a solid hour plus and BOLA is another 2 or more past that. Puffer fish tasted like lobster just don’t die eating it if you don’t know what you are doing...

So we decided to take the trucks instead of the SXS’s.. went to town and filled up.. got me a gas station burrito which was AWESOME.. but Jesus don’t put as much hot sauce as I did.. 😳

grabbed me a coconut on the way home with the chili and lime.. and of course my bag of coconut water that came out of said coconut.

Couldn’t help myself I also picked up another kilo of shrimp! I am looking forward to cooking that tonight. 😍

for those that don’t know coconut water pretty much cures any ailment from hang overs to montezuma’s revenge!

on a side note they replaced several miles of road since we have been here.. weird how they can do that in a day down here but Havasu can’t seem to figureit out.. 🤪

You will probably go off the grid soon. Hit the cow bar on the way into Puertocitos and be prepared for one more military check point just north of Gonzaga.

Sea shell hunting.. :)

And yes we drove out onto the low tide..

The new SXS’s go up China wall out in glamis... I think they will be fine cruising the mean beaches of Mexico. 😝

Looks like you got the obligatory Mexican sweater.... man I have a closet full of those scratchy ass bitchez.... but always fond Mexican memories whenever I wear em in US. I see Baja as what Southern Cali coastal must've been like pre development boom... Have a blast its such a page out of time!

hey @mesquito_creek do you know if there are access trails from the cantina to get down to San Felipe? (obviously, once the area opens back up after the terrible earthquake and cartels running the show)

Are you talking about the cantina at the Rio (jessie/guzman)?... If so, kinda, yes... you have to jump a bit north at MP 48 and go over the pass. Then you have to run a lot of the Laguna Salada, but there is a pass over the mountain north of Hwy 3. Then you just run the section parallel to the hwy 5 into San Felipe proper.

If you want to run a little bit on hwy 5 you can jump off around MP 70 ish (north of the dunes) and fly down the laguna salada on to the same path. Look at some of the old Baja 500/1000 routes that come down the course out of the Valle T area and you pick it up around race mile 150ish and run it into San Felipe.

This years Baja 500 runs where you want to go... pick up the course at RM 150.

We tried to hit it on the way home but it was closed already.. it was open on our way down.

checkpoint was no big deal. The anal cavity search was a little awkward but slightly pleasurable.. 👀 😜

Dave, this trip looks off the hook!

I’m with @Tank tho, I have said a few bad experiences 30 years ago unfortunately will still keep me from ever going back (I think).

It’s been a good read this morning. Keep the story coming. Travel safely.

Great thread. Thank you for posting. Looks like great family fun. In the late 80's and 90's we would drive down. After a few close calls, we now will be staying on this side of the border. Im sure rolling with a big crew changes some of the risks.

That there is the Russian Princess.... my frequent travel companion south of the border. Nobody fucks with her.... she'll cut a fucker gets too close to us so she's basically my protection when I get overly friendly with locals at night.

Back then it looked liked Randsburg, surrounded by cardboard houses!

Looks like you've having a Great time.

So for some reason I can’t get pics to air drop from Stacys phone or others right now.. So I will upload the offroad adventure of yesterday when we are driving home from Stacys phone.. it was an awesome day of cruising through ranches, cows, a crazy variety of terrain.. and coming back on fumes. Was one of the best days we had!
Now we are packing up and getting ready to head home. 😢

Well honestly the biggest police or government problems we had the whole trip was coming back into the states.. we went in the wrong lane and they put us all in secondary inspection which took a couple hours..

Just pulled up to the house now. I will try to gather the rest of the pics up and upload them over the next few days!! Was one of the best trips I have had ever.. certainly for off-roading!

Good bye San Felipe! Some burritos from the taco truck at the gas station before we hit the road..

Till the next time!
