Considering adding a 22 to my collection , my 9mm's and 45's are all good but a bit on the clunky side , had a AMT 380 but sold it years ago , anyone know Walthers ? I like the double action/hammer feature

The Walther's a great gun, Sig Sauer and Glock also have some nice 380's
As for the 22's, best kept secret, fun to shot and the ammo is cheap, for now....

for a 22 look into the ruger sr22. Will eat any ammo that you can feed it and has worked flawlessly for me. The walther 22 i shot needed better ammo to make it cycle and the bulk ammo didn't work very well.

My 2cents.

I wanted a small 22 too.
I picked up the P22 about 2 years ago ... it looks very cool and it hasn't jammed or given me any trouble yet.
Ive shot about 1000 rounds so far,.
I read about how some can be tempermental ... but mine works great.

I second the P365 9mm. Actually think its smaller then the above mentioned 22.

do you realize that at 25yards a 22lr CCI velocitor or Aguila 22hp 40 grains has more ft pounds of energy than a standard 380?

I have an early p-22 when you could get the short barrel and the long 5 inch barrel kit.

mine works great, shoots all ammo and is a fun plinker only down side is the 10 rd mag.

i also have the Browning buckmark and it’s a dead nuts target pistol, you would have to have both eyes closed to miss your target when shooting this bad boy!

browning buckmark also has a rifle made out of the pistol ( they added a stock and a long barrel) This shoots equally as well as the pistol.

this is similar to the one I have

My wife has a P22. Fun to shoot and comfortable. We have found that it doesn't like the bulk ammo is the only complaint.

I got that pistol for my wife a few years ago. Its like a toy, but still fun to shoot. Great for beginners. No jams at all.

OP specifically says he doesn't want/need 9mm or 45, looking for 22 only...people scoff and recommend a 9mm....SMH

Anyway, I have have/had both the Walther P22 and the Ruger LCP.....the P22 does not like cheap ammo and thats the whole point of having a 22, is a fun cheap way to plink at shit...I ended up getting rid of it and getting the LCP and that thing takes any ammo I throw at it.

Have a S&W 22A which I found at cabelas for under $200 as it was being discontinued. Kinda big with 5" barrel, but fun/cheap to shoot. Always kept it in the Jeep for lunchtime fun.

So this is convoluted...
Umarex bought Walther, and Walther continues to make quality pistols in a town called Ulm, the historic home for Walther.

The exception is the P22 and a few other small-caliber guns. These are made by Umarex in a town called Arnsberg.

Umarex makes air soft guns and 22 pistols for many MFR’s including the discontinued (and universally shitty) Sig Mosquito.

Pistols produced in Arnsberg by Umarex are a crapshoot as far as quality goes, you can google it to see for yourselves.

The net-net is you may get a good one, or you may get a POS.

If you're looking for a good plinker, I've had good success with the Taurus TX-22. It's cheaper, had a better trigger, is striker fired and holds 16 rounds vs 10 in the P-22 (13 with a modified follower). Something to consider.

Picked up my Walther P22Q yesterday (Nickle slide) , Gun shop owner says "they are piccky about ammo" I say OK whatcha got He says "nothing" Apparently the race to arm oneself and and the covid have caused not just a gun shortage but also an ammo glut .... anyhow plenty of CCI stingers in my reserves . Now that I have it in hand find it similar in weight and feel to my Barretta PX4 soooo to the range this weekend to performance test

My wife has the 44 and really likes it. Seems to shoot whatever brand ammo we've put in it.....so far.

My P22 feeds hollow points MUCH better than regular grade remmington or cci slug ammo bare or jacketed. The extra 1/50" off the tip or whatever makes a difference and I've had it apart and fucked with it but it remains ammo sensitive. I haven't tried any other snub nose ammo.

I have a Glock G44, and a Taurus TX22. The Glock is very tempermental the Taurus eats anything you feed it.

The Walther P22 is known to either be temperamental to ammo or they run fine. My P22 runs anything I put through it. That being said I mostly use Blazer and have never had a single issue. I do have a bunch of CCI mini mag LR, but have yet to try it.

ive heard some are problamatic while others function good.A friend has one his fired good and was pretty accurate for a small gun.Another i know has one his can be ammo picky,

Think there was minor difference in ca version vs the free states ones too where the ca ones werent as reliable.Seems 22 semi autos can be picky though hear good on the rugers and buckmarks though.I may need to buy a 22 handgun to go through some ammo have about 3500 rounds left which is more than i can shoot for now.

First rounds out of the barrel , New Walther p22 , a few "hang fires" with Federal bulk and CCI stingers , near flawless with federal "Spitfires" , had heard they were "ammo" picky, P 22 handles a lot like her PX4 9mm

Funny MIL has one. She noted that it is finicky on the ammo. She is also having a hard time getting more. Anyone have any leads to ammo in Kingman area?
