Steve,

How big of a project is it to add a tv outside?

Also, pos some post some pics of the hurricane exterior!

Congrats by the way.

I wouldn't do because you have to cut a hole in the outside, and buy a door...what I've done is buy a tv and just plug it in on the outside plug,.. save the box it comes in and store it in a bottom storage... it would be a major job to do after the coach was built...

so here's the hokey bed setup when the slide is in... total waist of space till you do the slide out...but,.. on a positive note... we timed how long it took to do start to ready to sleep....32 seconds total...so minor set back.. but we have a king bed in an under 30' coach.. and a dinette and sofa...

So did this coach have a queen before? Mine is a queen, and I also hate that part and we miss the king. But my slide dictates the width, I don’t believe I could go wider even if I did want to go this route. I’ll look closet tomorrow.

No, it came with a king,...

Finally got around to swapping my old motorcraft shocks out. They were on sale on Amazon for $85 each so I said fuck it. Bought all 4 and good thing I did.

They still have some life on them right? Lmao

Both fronts were completely shot. Rears weren't as bad but I swapped them out anyways. It's been a week now and they still haven't decompressed lol

Considering getting the sumo springs now...... Are they really worth it?

I did Sumo's on the front and it made a big difference with stability in the wind or passing/being passed by truckers. It also softened the ride quite a bit. Only thing I didn't like was it raised the front about an inch. Everything else was good. Pretty easy to install too just been too lazy to do the back

Winnebago offers a few models that the refer only runs on the generator or inverter or shore power - no propane.

Beware that’s something you simply take for granted.
Have met a few couples that got stung on that.
A conversion would be cost and PITA prohibitive.

Ok, so I got the shocks ordered, I may do the Sumos also in the front.

Steve - what do you think about the Safe-T-Plus? I lost a rear tire last trip out, just makes we worry about a front going out, getting cut down. If it works, I would say it's worth the $500 once you get it dialed in. What are your thoughts?

I did front and back koni shocks and sumo springs front and back and made a huge difference. Super skeptical but was pleasantly surprised when completed. Evidently the stock shocks on the ford F53 cassis only works in one direction.

I got the rv bug a year ago and started looking. Set on a Tiffin Newmar was even looking at a Fleetwood DP. The one I like the best was the Berkshire. Dont really now why but that was the one. Sat down about to do the deal and got cold feet after the 280K price tag. started looking cheaper, haven't had an RV in about 15 years. Last one was a Pace arrow Gasser and loved it. Other then a fridge issue 15K and nothing wrong but fixing some rattles, 8.1 workhorse.

I said fuck it lets spend just shy of half, try the RV thing again and bought a 37.1 Miramar Thor Gasser, I absolutely love the floor plan. I read good and bad things about Thor, 2 full bathrooms, bunk house, drop down bed over the from seats, 22" Alcoa wheels and fairly loaded up. Grinded on my dealer, end of the month, got a great deal and bought it. Dealer became open and admitted to me the lower end motorhomes aren't built to last. He also said if your mechanically inclined thats a plus. Nice sales pitch.

Here's what I dont like. Big residential fridge but doesn't work on propane, just electric. The good about this, I haven't filled my propane tank since it was full from the dealer. Mattresses suck, change all out to high quality, junked the shitty 2 6 volt batteries and installed 4 high grade 6 volts. It actually came with a good battery charger-tender system. Added 2 solar panels, love this and highly recommend. Ripped out the stereo and got it bumping, added new shocks and sumo all the way around, also highly recommend. It Cruzes well now at 70 mph. Fixed some rattles works good, drives good as a gasser can and it will do until its time for a DP. The dealer comments about not built to last, in my head every time I use it.

it's still a gasser a bit loud, I just turn the tunes up. I crawled under it and went through a bag of zip ties. Things aren't built like they use to.

The simplicity scares me for long term durability on the sumos but made a noticeable difference.

I'm a chevy guy Last time I owned a Ford was when I was 16. I will admit the V 10 runs strong with enough power and the 53 cassis looks and feels ok. Towed for the first time thanksgiving and it did well other then gas milage, really didn't know my trailer was back there. It went in for 5 warranty minors, Thor took care of it without a hiccup.

In the early stages of Moho shopping. Still trying to figure out what I want. It will mainly be my son and I traveling to motocross races. I plan on towing a small enclosed trailer. I have had a super C in the past. Never had a class A but checking them out.

I have had 5 RVs in the past 6 years. I really liked my smaller (27ft class C) with the 6 speed Ford. Nice driving and plenty of power. At this point we are staying in hotels.

Im honestly not sure. I feel like im chasing the magic dragon at this point. Swapping rubber and setting the psi based on weight made it ride night and day. Swapping out the blown motorcrafts made an obvious HUGE difference. I actually felt comfortable for the first time ever driving it out to Rasor Rd since owning the thing..... Even with the mild gusts that were blowing yesterday, i felt in control. I know itll never drive like a DP but it would be nice to keep the pucker factor and driver fatigue low
I just did Sumo Springs and the Roadmaster steering stabilizer. Ordered everything through E-Trailer.

Huge difference and a pleasure to drive now.

Im going to pull the trigger. I know it wont be the end all be all solution but we use our moho more than i initially imagined and comfort is on the top of my list.

I am going to be getting serious about an Rv purchase in the next 2 years here.

I am taking a page from the @2FORCEFULL play book and looking for the smallest rig that will get the job done.

There are a couple fleetwood and Winnebago floorplans in the 2012-2018 years that fit the bill

I really like the jamboree/tioga 28Y, but they are tough to find. The Winnebago has some similar plans, but not sure of the quality compared to the fleetwoods.

Is there a manufacturer that is of Better quality in that gas class c space?

28Y Floor plan for reference or suggestions. Trying to get a sub-30 footer with a private bedroom.

So I'm not a moho guy but I have a question. Nextdoor neighbor has a 5 year old Newmar that he paid over $250K for. He has nothing but trouble with the big kitchen slider. Sometimes needs two guys pushing and somebodies wife hitting the switch to get it back in.

He's had it in a few shops and they all say they can't get e new motor or some other excuse. Now I don't want to get involved with this at all so I am just curious. I think it may be a wiring issue. Does the switch over the dashboard provide direct power to the motor via fairly small wires? Or is there a reversing relay next to the motor so that high current can be provided just like a proper winch set up?

The 4 to 10mpg has kept us from taking this plunge. We've been looking. The MB diesel class B gets acceptable mpg but is twice the price.

There are all kinds of voodoo going on with the slide motion controls. My full wall slide (30 footish) was a bitch to get working; I had to do it myself since no one would touch it. Encoder motors that required programming the stops. I've got to follow specific instructions when extending and retracting that big slide, including the engine running on high idle.

people need to know this.... and not just on full wal slides... having the motor running is to insure you don't run low or out of pwoer... you need to check clearance before you push the button on the slide....once you push the button you can't let up till the slide is all the way out and then even after hold for another 3 secounds...

Steve, what do you think about the MB models, we were looking at a MB Airstream sprinter. (a few other models as well) We wanted something small enough to just get in and go when ever we want or for a short trips here and there across country to visit family.

So, in 2020 I got an Entregra Esteem 30lx. F450 w/ the new Gorilla motor. Had it for a year, replaced all the spark plug wires, ran it 6,000 miles, jonesing for a DP. Was a really nice, well built, engineered rig. I put sumos on the front for wind push from the tractor trailers and never went over 65mph, so it ran fine - plenty of power for a 32 foot rig. I hated the overhang - tail swing is a real thing, and I always thought it looked like too much box for frame. Fall of 2021, ordered a Tiffin Allegro Breeze 33BR, got it in April. Then weren’t any within 1,000 miles from me, so I did it on pictures alone. I’m stunned at all the issues I’ve had, and I hope what they say about customer service is spot on - taking it to the mother land ( Red Bay , Al ) in September to get it straightened out. Yes, they do warranty work AT the factory for free, and you stay in the rig while they work you in and out of the schedule. NO, you can’t make an appointment, no you don’t know how long you will wait for repairs. They have a parking lot with full hookups for free if you’re under warranty- I’m only 721 miles away, so my free service is going to be around $800 in fuel, and an unknown amount of time in their parking lot, but if it’s perfect when I leave, all good. The Tiffin was 3x’s as much as the Esteem, but definitely not 3 times as much coach - just a lot more swagger in the campsite, which means nothing to me. If you guys want the smallest DP on the market, this is it. Cummings 6.7 340 hp Allison 2500 w/engine break, 2 large AC’s, air ride, air breaks ( disk ), air leveling, all at under 12’feet tall, 3 slides, king bed, residential refrigerator, full basement storage, this is the one. Only rated to pull 5m #’s, but I’m sure it will do more. I get about 14 mpg by itself, 10 mpg with the toad behind.

It astonishes me the amount of money people pay for motor homes and then have to put up with basically a pile of crap with the most horrendous after the sale service . If I were to buy one , it would be a decent used one that had deprecated the most already . And plan on it breaking / falling apart .

This, I bought a 2008 Jayco Seneca just before covid money hit. I have almost no problems since all was taken care of before me.

I rent.

I do it once a year for a week with the grandkids.

Fabulous times. . . . When I asked the 7 year old granddaughter…. You love going to the house in Havasu, and you love going on RV trips.
“If you had to choose one …. Havasu or RV… which would you choose?”

LOVE HER ANSWER

“Ampa… I would choose a RV trip to Havasu”

I guess we are having fun the right way!

pretty much the same coach as my new palazzo... yours is 11' 11 3/4'' tall, mine 12' 1/8'' your wb is 202, mine 208..... we both have the same GVWR, but mine has 10k hitch, and yours has 5k.. both are 30,000 gcwr.. but the tiffin is a 1000 lbs heaver.. you need to weight the coach fulll loaded and subtract that amount from 30k.... thats your tow rating, also, I upped my ac to 30,000 btu... it was same as yours 27,000

there kinda cool,... but just as hard to find parking,,, the savings in fuel doesn't make up for the cost to buy...there too narrow and they are in the cramper class.. no place to sit,.. no place to sleep showers too small,..toilet area too small.. i'd rather just go in my van with a bed in back..

Our coach is a class C fleetwood Jamboree Sport. 31W. The entry door is right behind the front passenger and allows a huge kitchen counter. Nobody needs a barrel chair when you can have 2 more feet of countertop.
The shower is opposite the toilet. We use our shower for storage. It’s never been used.
Rear under storage goes side to side full width.
It’s about 36” wide by 102” long and about 30” high.

It was by far what I thought the most useful floorplan for having 3 kids, 2 adults, and bringing friends. It’s been great.

Highly suggest!

Thoughts on a Renegade Super C? I'm seeing a lot more of these Super C's now and Renegade seems to be the Mercedes of Super C's. I like the Verona 36VSB. Just two of us but we either tow a dingy or a 28' enclosed trailer with Dragster or desert toys.

How do you like the Palazzo line from Thor Steve, do you like switching to diesel over gas?

Thoughts??

That looks really clean in pix and has some nice equipment. The mileage is certainly encouraging. At it's age there could b some potential concerns with being able to get parts for repairs on some components like refer, level'g jack system, neo angle skylight over shower, rubber seals, rubber hoses, plumbing fixtures, lines, water pump, possibly some eng. Components etc. The a/c units may need replaced if orig. Good maintenance records are crucial. Towing capacity may be limited depending on your plans/needs.
2 yrs ago I sold a very clean, solid 1996 Rexhall with 46k miles, v10 triton for $16k. Very similar floor plan and options. Getting parts to repair things was becoming a challenge. That neo angle skyight lens is almost obsolete and not a real picknick to change out. Of all things the fuel filler hose from inlet to tank cracked and leaked one Sat. Morning while I was fueling it just a couple hrs before we were to leave on a trip. Luckily I was able to source the hose and replace it w/in abt 4 hrs. It was an absolute bitch to replace. Narrow access and just at the end of my reach to get onto the filler neck. I had to heat the tube to get it expanded enough to slide onto the filler Neck. A few attempts, some serious cursing and hell bent determination to get it fixed and got it done. Haha
A good underside inspection of airlines, hoses etc. would be a really good idea. Hopefully it was stored inside or at least well covered. That could help significantly. Good luck, I hope it is the jewel you hope it to be.
PS. Tire inspection....look between the treads for cracking and research the mfg for any known problems with them from that date code, model.

Nice write up, thank you.

I have had travel/toy hauler trailers of all types, we recently just sold our last toy hauler. The wife wants a rv, my thought is to get something similar to this is price, as an entry level rig to see if rv’ing is for us or if we should stick to trailers.

Did you have nice newer trailers? If so I wouldn’t try a older budget RV to compare.
Mines got dated interior like the one you posted so we did new flooring, window coverings, painted walls, and new handles and hinges along with lighting in brushed silver to replace the gold/brass. Made it look much nicer. Just don’t paint over the wood cabinets!!!!!!

I see the ad is in the IE so parts for older stuff can be found at Walt’s RV in corona. They have almost everything for the older RVs!
