We have always boated at Lake Mead. Houseboat, dirt camping on the shore different spots and hotel at Echo Bay. We are considering trying Lake Mohave out of Cottonwood Cove. Houseboat or motel at the marina.

I would like to hear peoples experiences and opinions about the area.

Cottonwood is a hidden and unknown gem on Lake Mojave , I will tow all the way from the casinos in Laughlin just to
enjoy it's solitude .

Lots of beaches. Never stayed at the hotel, but we've cove camped and house boated out of there several times. The store and cafe were pretty nice. Watch your speed down the road from Searchlight. Its long and the grade drops pretty good. I've seen peeps overheat their brakes and lose it in the turns near the end.

I have been launching out of cottonwood every summer for the last 30 years, we have two lots with full rv hook ups in searchlight, and will be there again July 2nd till after the holiday. Down to laughlin Friday nite for the fireworks over the water, then back out to owl cove area. If you are seeking info feel free to get in touch with me...I pretty much know every square inch of shore line from Catherine's landing to the base of the Hoover dam.

Oh yea, on windy days, best water is north of the launch ramp......go up river past the first big open area..it makes a right then the next area ( owl cove area ) around the corner to the right all the way till the power lines....
On days with lil or no wind you cannot beat the morning glass that sometimes lasts all day...

What is the drive like? How long?

From Oceanside depending on traffic:

5+ hours on the 15 to Nipton Rd, to Searchlight to Cottonwood

5 hours, 30+ minutes 15 to 40 to US95 to Searchlight to Cottonwood or

5 hours, 30+ minutes 15 to 215 to 10 up to 29 Palms, Amboy to 40 to US95 to Searchlight to Cottonwood

Really want to get back up there... It has been years. And boat used to be stored in Parker, so the tow was not too bad. 5:30+... yikes.

That all sounds like we should give it a try. It would reduce our travel time by about 1 hour which would be great.

Thanks for the info...
