For the few, the proud, the skilled.
No wakeboarder here muthafuckas. I like a challenge at 50yrs old.
Did the math and haven't skied for over 30 years let alone ever going through fucking slalom bouys. Today was fun. Tomorrow I will be taking extra kratom.

It’s a point of pride for my buddy and I to show our teenage daughters what old skool looks like. The girls wakeboard and wake surf and we do it with them. But when it’s glass at sunset it’s time to go old school, bust out the slalom ski and show em hows it’s done.

It boills down to going 70mph crossing a wake, balls out, vs 15mph and oh, I can drink a beer and wakeboard/wakesurf at the same time. And so can my 5 yr old daughter.

My daughter called me out a couple of years ago about me making her learn how to wake board, she says "daddy why are you making me learn how to wake board, I've never seen you do it and I don't think you can" I told her next time we go I will show you and when I'm done I don't want any complaining about learning deal and she agreed. Needless to say her mouth was on the floor when I got back in the boat, she said she will never call me out again. :D

Watching someone kill it on a ski is so fucking cool...
I completely agree, it's a beautiful thing to watch. My wife gave it up for the wakeboard because of the trailing leg sting.

I’ve never had a chance to hit a slalom course but was looking up Barstow a Newberry springs ski schools just yesterday hoping that my son and I could do a week together in a couple years.

Skiing is awesome but wakeboarding may be easier to get up on but it’s a lot more difficult to be good at. I do both, mostly ski as I seem to get injured a lot on the wakeboard. Our rules with the kids were no tubing until you ski or wakeboard. Both kids were on ski trainers at 3, wakeboards by 4 and slalom ski by 5. They mostly board now at 7/9. We now let them tube occasionally. Those videos were really cool to watch. I hope I can still ski at 60. Probably be lucky if I can walk at 60. Great skiing!

Great thread...

I'm sure I could still get up on a single ski, but I doubt I could cut real well! LoL

Nothing feels better than a sweet cut back on glass.

Good times!

Youre bro sure throws it down! Ive been itching to get back out on a ski for a while. We have a well maintained slalom course here at Naci and i have quiet a few connections with the Far West Ski club. I have a friend that skis the course almost daily at about 60 year old and is so competitive that he got sponsored by Mastercraft (I'm fairly certain thats the manufacturer). He gets to run a new boat every year of his choice and on the 5th year, he get to keep the boat after the year and his sponsorship contract are up.

I ski weekday mornings early with two other local guys.

Tom is 80 years old, hope I am doing as well when I am that old!

John plays "Santa" each year in the boat parade with his own hair and beard. Unfortunately he has to miss some great ski time starting in a week or so, going in for back surgery. He could run a course if we had one here.

I love this thread, so many "geezers" making me look and feel bad. Sometimes you're only as old as you feel. This guy is twice my age and kicking ass and taking names. I guess I better get off my fat ass and get back into shape.

I have standing “Rights” whenever we launch the boat. I get the first and/or last ride on a ski depending on the water conditions.

Have skied every year for forty plus years with no plan to stop!!!

I have accepted wake surfing as my wife likes it’s hard to do this on a slalom...

Both the wife and I ski, the wife is still pretty impressive at 39 . Her rule in the boat is you have to ski before you do anything else. Both kids have been double skiing since they were 3 or 4, and on a single the last few years. My 10 year old is getting to be a decent little skier, sure is fun to watch them progress. She has no fear, which im not really looking forward to.

Grew up slalom skiing. I wakeboard with the same mentality. Can ride 55-60mph. In perfect water I'm sure I could ride a little faster.

That would make crossing the wake nearly triple digit speed. Impressive!!

When I'm on one ski, I feel like a Nascar driver because I can only turn left. My goal is to retire on a quite body of water that will allow me to wake up and slalom every morning (I'm 33). This is on Lake Entiat just south of Lake Chelan last summer. Headed back on Thursday for a 4 day vacation with the boys.

Great thread. I skied growing up, I bought myself a new ski a couple years back. I tried to get up a few weeks ago and couldn’t get up after a dozen tries throughout the day. Thinking I need a lesson because I don’t remember proper form. Doesn’t help that I’m severely out of shape.

Goal is to ski every trip and get back to being s decent skier again...

You guys look great skiing in your 50-60’s!! [emoji1303]

Assuming Naci gets some descent rain this winter, you guys need to come up and we can do some good skiing.
