Watercraft Fire Extinguisher Requirements?

I am asking what are the minimum coast guard portable fire extinguisher requirements for my single engine 24' open bow boat. I primarily operate on Lake Havasu waters and once or twice a year in Newport Beach Harbor and along the coast (San Clemente to Long Beach). The engine bay already has a permanent mounted automatic and oversized 225cf (halon equivalent) fire extinguisher.

I also believe that I will need 1 or 2 small 10lb portable fire extinguishers (for a 24' boat) that are located in an accessible area to be legal with the Coast guard requirements. Currently I am thinking of a clean agent 2-1/2 lb unit sold at Eddy Marine 2:BC rated.

I appreciate replies to my above assumptions.

I carry a 2.5 lbs ABC extinguisher. I just bought a replacement last weekend.

I also have a Halon system in my engine bay. It probably needs to be recharged, or at least have the mercury switch replaced.

I know Halon is hard to find, and very expensive if you can find it.

What do they use in engine bays nowadays?
