That's pretty good, honestly. I'd sure like to have the towed vehicle a little further back though. Not much response time for braking!

It would have been better to open hatch and rear door and loop it around the C pillar section of the car…..

I imagine it worked fine…there is a whole lot of structure there, more than you’d find anywhere under a unibody car, especially for a load in this direction.

I used to pull the kid skiing and tubing with the rope tied to the grab handle on the seat of my Kawasaki TS to keep the line outta the water, have towed in boats this way too. Lots of bearing surface doesn’t need much strength.
