Your gender based material references have offended one of Marilyn Vos Savant's non-male readers and you've been called out in Parade Magazine to change your ways.
No more ' Male and Female ' gender based material references. In the future, only non-gender based terminology like plugs and sockets will be acceptable. We do have terminal adaptor, so no need to refer to them as male (Penis) adaptors, but what terminology has replaced the vagina, errrr, I mean female equivalent ? Socket adaptor ??
I think the electricians are being unfairly called out, what of the plumbers and pipefitters, their entire thread terminology is gender based with even initialed abbreviations ?
Regardless of the pain and subsequent costs, all the affected industries must gather, assign focus groups and solve these most offensive and inappropriate archaic methods of nomenclature.
Once terminology has been replaced as non-gender based, each company should hold special training to address this issue of inappropriate terminology, and restore our good names before the public. I'd recommend forewarning your employees now, should they performing their services in public, because now others will be listening.
Somebody needs to volunteer to write to [email protected] and let her know, well get right on this.
While you're at it, make sure you drag those damned plumbers and pipefitters under the bus, right now us sparkys are catching all the blame.
