Went to a life celebration today...

For my buddy that drank himself to death. Couple people showed up in clown attire, wigs and noses honking horns during prayer. Someone dropped an F bomb during a eulogy. It was unique, just like Dan, and turned out to be a gathering of Inland Empire punk rock all stars. Not one tear was shed. Nothing but smiles. I showed up kind of bummed out and left thinking “damn, that was a good time”. That is how it’s done folks.

That's a great way to remember your friends. Went to memorial gathering recently for one of my friends dads. He used to run blown alcohol flats and partied out of Lost Lake for years. The eulogy included a phone conversation of him talking about wanting to fire up another flatty and run it again. His voice was just like I remembered it. Cool way to go out. R.I.P to your friend.

I agree...but I think the odds of anybody knowing I died or being there are slim to none.

We went to a friend's funeral that took his own life and was a bit estranged from most of his family. The reception was at an adjacent Park's multi-purpose room. Well my friends and I all snuck in drinks of various sorts and we're pretty loud and laughing while the rest of his family was giving us the stink eye and all. Well his dad came over and I figured he was gonna tell at us but instead he said "You guys knew Tim better than anybody in here. Don't worry about what anybody else in here thinks or says. I'm paying for this and I say you remember him however you'd like!"

No clowns? Dan dressed up as Danold Trupp and threw fake $100 bills in the crowd at our friends shows. He used to do stand up comedy dressed as a clown in a hospital gown. On Facebook he constantly joined Democrat official’s pages and would argue endlessly with them. He always ended it “you do realize you are arguing with a clown *<honk honk>*”

I just remembered that one time Barbara Boxer’s lawyers contacted him when he kept asking “Babs” to meet him for dinner.
