Sounds like a great trip. If you need anything/have any questions while in CDA or Sandpoint let me know.

Well, this whole inspection for Tahoe is over the top. Super glad I waxed the back of the boat so he could spray it with a pressure washer.

Guy running the show is a pissed off hippie and was an asshole from the first minute I got here. Snapped a pic of him enjoying exhaust while trying to temp the exhaust water.

Headed to Tahoe via hwy 50 on a weekend? :D BTW, Reno and Tahoe are windy pretty much every day. EVERY DAY. I don't miss that at all. I wish you patience. Enjoy your trip. We are currently in CDA area. Looks to be mid-90s all next week.

You'll get to do a few more inspects on your trip but thats a super excessive one from the looks of it.

Are there inspections in Idaho and Montana?

Yes, Watch for the signs when you cross the border. Its a mandatory inspection stop. Make sure you don't have any grass, plug out, and ZERO water/oil etc in bilge. Probably best to google the info for each state...its pretty much a shack with a small parking lot in each state (they are on practically every major highway in.

@GRADS had some dope threads back in the day when they would do Celebrity Golf and stay in the keys. Inspections there have always been gnarley and they charge to launch, based on number of axles at some spots.

Saw you pulling into the hotel late afternoon. I was coming back from Sand Mountain today. Maybe I’ll see you at the Keys? We’re casting off at 11 for Garwood’s

As far as I know, there are inspections in every state. Absolutely for Idaho and Montana. Are you taking HWY 95 up Idaho? Going through the nothing of Oregon? I was told there are no quagga mussels in Idaho, Oregon or Washington yet. They aim to keep it that way. They told me to make sure there was no sand in the kayaks also. The fact that their most recent dip was in Lake Tahoe was a plus for the inspectors.

You will certainly hit an inspection in each state. Depending on the condition of the boat (weeds in prop hub, dirty bottom, water in the bilge etc.) will determine the severity of the inspection. Most of the time it’s a steam bath and a possible run on the hose, just carry some wipe down towels. You gotta remember up until recently Idaho and Montana had been able to avoid the zebra mussel outbreak. They are serious about protecting their water ways and habitats which is awesome. You will need to buy an invasive species sticker for Idaho, don’t get caught without it as it opens the door for them to be di
cks and find other stuff wrong. FYI I’m in CDA as I’m typing this, it’s truly an amazing place that the family and I love to come too. Good luck and have fun.

Thinking about launching at Cave Rock but the parking spots seem too short. Probably just audible in the AM and go to the Keys for 10x the price 😅

Ran up to Gar Woods from Tahoe Keys Marina with @C08H18. To launch, it’s $70 for 1 and 2 axles. It’s $175 for 3 axles My wife was crawling around on the bow when the young marina employee walked up… he marked 1 axle on the launch pass 😁

A little wildfire smoke but still a great day

Video doesn't work for me.

Glad to see you're enjoying yourself @Tooms22 Those wet woody's are good but I prefer the Rum Runners at the Beacon/Camp Richardson, make sure you have one.

Download it, don’t just view it.

Heading to Boise? The closest place to boat is Lucky Peak- 15 minutes from the freeway -Gowen Rd, HWY 21 north, cant miss it. Cross the bridge, (gorge) go right to the main marina. Don't know if any inspections will be present, its hit or miss. If you do go, when you leave the marina, go right, toward the bridge/gorge, its quite a sight to go under the bridge and boat through the "Lava Flow" gorge (see picture)

Also, at that same exit- Nice hotel (if your needing a place to stay) Best Western Northwest Lodge, away from downtown Boise but close enough to go there if you want. Same location is an Albertsons, a few places to eat (Subway, Burger joint, McDonalds etc) perfect for loading up in the morning prior to heading to the lake.

For the rest of the day… Ran to the east side of the lake and anchored in Skunk Harbor. Water is amazing. Pulled the boat up and went to the Old Dominion concert. Proceeded to drink all the beer and tequila. Resulted in a late start this morning. Headed to Fallon, NV today to stay with a college buddy who is now a Top Gun Instructor.

This trip is pretty hit and run besides 5 nights in Kalispell. Everything else is 1-2 nights and we’re trying to work as well 🙄

You had mentioned this before and we put it in our plans but decided we needed to schedule some work time throughout the trip. So our full day in Boise will be spent working about 9-3.

Thanks again to @C08H18 for the lake info, running with us to Gar Woods, and buying us a couple Wet Woodys.

Also thanks to @napanutt for the Friday’s Station recommendation. We went on Thursday night. Awesome view and food. We saw a few giant plumes of smoke to the north. I’m not sure but I think it was the Dixie Fire. That’s got to be 100+ miles away. We also went to Community Speakeasy afterwards and it had a great musician.

@Tooms22 Glad you found Skunk Harbor - you're in the exact location where we anchor on the east side! And thanks for the Rum Runners. Wife finished 4 before we headed back for the concert. We're feeling your pain this AM!

Safe travels and keep the postings coming our way!
