Stayed in Fallon last night with a college buddy that I haven’t seen in a couple of years. Stopped by Frontier Liquor and Sporting Goods because buying booze and ammo just feels really American. He said Fallon sucks even compared to Hanford, CA where he was last stationed. But he had great stories about flying jets at Top Gun.

One conversation went like this:

Him: A bunch of Air Force pilots came in yesterday with F22s and we got to go up against them in the air.

Me: Badass! How’d your F18 do against their F22s?

Him: Oh, I was actually flying an F16 yesterday.

Me: Damn, my life is boring compared to yours 😂

In the photo with the model jets, he’s the closest plane on the plaque picture. The photo ended up on a magazine cover.

We just rolled into Caldwell area wine country. Boat inspection right at the bottom of the grade on 95. Helped that it just came from Tahoe.

So far so good with the towing. New truck is a beast. A couple bearing buddies needed to be fixed a little last night. Knock on wood.

Boise was pretty cool. Big enough to have some weirdos with pink and blue hair but also most people were way nicer than people than SoCal. Wineries were fun and not snobby, even more mellow than Temecula or Paso Robles. Barbacoa Grill was one of the coolest restaurants we’ve ever been to, decor wise. Capitol Building was awesome. We took a long walk down to the river with the pup and came across a great firefighter memorial.

Why Lehi UT?

About halfway between Kalispell and home to break up the 1300ish miles. I thought being south of SLC made sense to miss morning traffic.

Final two legs were almost equal until we decided to drop the boat off at storage right by Needles Bridge in AZ. That leg will now be 750 miles.

Couer D’Alene had smoke and light rain. It was still beautiful but we only boated for about 3 hours today and then made our way to the Airbnb in Sandpoint.

Buoy Bar by the city launch had crappy food but cold beers. The city launch was a great ramp.

Thanks for sharing, looks like a great trip! When you get to Lehi UT, I’m 5 minutes away if you’d like a beer/cocktail with another Lavey owner, and let your pup run in the yard. Or if you need anything, my garage/tools will be available.

Good choice. I have done that drive multiple times. On the way up, I stayed in Brigham City (sometimes made it to Idaho Falls), and on the way down, Lehi or Provo.

BTW, if you leave Lehi very early and want a great breakfast down the road, I highly recommend Lisa's Kitchen in Nephi. We found it by happenstance.

Makes sense. Tons of places to eat there now with Silicon Slopes and all that. If you need anything let me know.

We’re staying at hotel right by the outlets and Cabelas but we’ll be leaving Missoula around 12pm after a short stop. So hopefully we make it by 9 but that’s wishful thinkful.

Thanks a ton! Like I said above we hope to get in by 9pm but any extra stops and/or issues will push us pretty late. In the morning, we were going to run past the Arita outlet and Cabela’s. Then we’ll hit the road for the 750 mile leg to Mohave Valley, AZ and home to Corona, CA.

Right on. If you are looking to do shopping etc at Cabela's I would suggest you go to Scheels. It is about 5 min away.

Stopped by there when I picked up the new Superduty in mid June. That place is awesome. We might have to swing by there.

Ok @Tank you're right. Lake Pend Oreille is absolutely beautiful.

We swung by a gym in town this morning and then had to work a little. I also kept finding some steering fluid in the bilge after running the boat. Everything seemed tight and my mechanic said likely a seal. So I decided I'll just find some steering fluid in town and top it off.

We didn't hit the water until 315. We launched at Dover Marina and headed over to Loaf and Ladle in Bottle Bay. Afterwards we ran a few miles further down the lake. On the way back we went a mile or so upriver from the Marina.

Houses are beautiful. Hills and mountains make for an amazing backdrop. The lake is awesome.

The town is pretty small and the bars/restaurants are great.

Spending some time in town tomorrow and headed to Kalispell, Montana around 1pm.

Oh and after running the boat today... no steering fluid in the bilge  Boat gremlins

Fantastic!!

Yeah, I'm telling you, Pend O'reille is the most beautiful lake I've boated on. Water so clear and scenery just beautiful. Glad you enjoyed it. Keep the pics coming. GREAT thread!

Glad the little leak is nothing ;) 👍

Eickhardt's is a great place for food. Kind of a sleeper. Everyone is all about McDuff's, and it's good, but crowded as hell.

I wish but we're going to lay low for awhile. I have a couple work conferences in September. We probably won't be back out in Havasu until Monster Bash.

Update: WiFi isn’t great at our Airbnb. I’ll post pics later if I can.

We wanted to boat Flathead Friday and Sunday but friends flew in Friday midday and flight got pushed from morning to midday Sunday. Saturday we had a wedding.

Then there was a wind warning yesterday. Lucky we didn’t go out because a huge thunderstorm hit the lake around 5pm. Hail and everything.

Today is chance of thunderstorms all day.

So we said screw it and added another night. Tomorrow is supposed to be great. We’ll boat a bunch. We leave Wednesday now.

We are currently at the bottom end of Flathead in Polson. Came in last night. Our daughter and son-in-law live here. There was a fire across the lake just north of Finley Point and evacuations are in effect.😕 Hopeful this rain knocked it down.

We are hoping to take the kayaks out tomorrow or rent a boat providing the weather clears up.
