I sometimes make my own rub and sometimes use Famous Dave’s or something that’s on sale.

I messed up my rub once adding too much Paprika. Good ingredient but sparingly or it cancels out the others. I got that YouTube tip from Franklin.

Blue agave syrup as a Binder then the rub, wrap then overnight in the refer.

Sometimes I’ll take a half container Famous Dave’s and add 2 Tablespoons dark brown sugar, 1 tablespoon onion powder, 1 tsp Emerals essence, 1 tsp Chilpote , 1 tsp spike, 1 tblspn Montreal Steak seasoning, 1/2 tsp Paprika.
Works good.

Tried this on our last Tri-tip in the treager. I would recommend giving it a try as it’s our New favorite until the next good find lol.

Cover with mustard,
Add garlic powder (not garlic salt).
Granulated onion.
Cumin.
Fresh cracked pepper.
Chipotle pepper.
Sometimes cayenne pepper.
Rub to cover completely.

Store bought rubs generally have salt as the main ingredient.
I try to keep my sodium intake as low as I can. (I have salt on the table).

Smoke over oak or avocado wood.

Yeah, Franklin mentions the Granulated onion is a BFD.
I'm going to get some.

For most beef it’s usually just salt, pepper and garlic salt. I switch it up with Traeger rubs every now and then My mom bought us one of those vacuum marinade things years ago. I throw my tri tips in there with a little oil, garlic, salt, pepper, and red wine vinegar. Turns out a pretty good chunk of meat.

For ribs i use the guy fieri rub. I bounced around a lot until this recipe. Now it’s the go to.

Quick tip for a rib side dish, pick up some slap your mama spice at walmart. Dice up some red potatoes, sprinkle some slap your mama on them with some butter wrapped up in foil and throw on que, maybe even add onion and bell pepper. Big hit with all my river neighbor who stop by for a bite.

Granulated onion, Lawry's seasoned pepper, sea salt, paprika, cayanne pepper, brown sugar. Try not to add salt until I'm putting them on as I don't want to dry it out prematurely.

I like BRITU rub. I use it on ribs, chicken, etc.. I just cut the salt in 1/2 and add more chili powder unless I use Indian chili powder.

Love throwing a packet of those on the grill when out camping. Works great with Yukon Golds, too. So creamy and delicious. The key is to overestimate the amount of butter that you need and then double it  I foil twice to contain the butter leakage that always seems to happen no matter how careful I am.

Brown sugar
Salt
Pepper
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Cummin
Ancho chilli powder

Start with one cup of brown sugar then I add the others till it tastes right. If I want to spice it up I'll add cayenne powder to it.

Edit...

Sometimes I add a little mustard powder as well, or some coriander instead of the cummin.

It is never the same twice.

Stater Brothers changed meat supplier and you can really see the difference. The baby backs were all fat white and thin.
So back to COSTCO. Meaty with much less fat.
COSTCOs back ribs usually have the membrane removed already as well. Easy trick but kinda nice.

Do you guys put rub on both sides?

My issue with St Louis style ribs is my trimming. Gotta figure out cutting out the Gristle.

I have Paul prudohmes first book that has his seasoning recipes. Some of them have about 15 ingredients. Best bbq chicken I've ever had with 2 separate rubs. I have to dig the book out again and redo since the lock down.

I have that book too. Check out his Prime Rib recipe. Cut back the fat cap and load it up with seasoning.
