My toon is coming apart. All the way apart! 🤣

IMAG5373.jpg

It's kind of a unicorn design, and I'm thinking I want to move the whole seating area forward a foot or so?

Will this cause any problems I'm not thinking about?

Wiring? Childs play for me.

Steering helm? Probably need to just replace everything?

Fuel and oil lines? I'm thinking not that big of a deal?

What else could cause an issue here???

It has begun...

It took me a minute to realize that a portion of the "dock" was actually a part of your boat.

Lol this is badass I can't wait to see the end result.

No matter what you do…….. it look like a fun project with numerous possibilities. I look forward to following your thread.

Ill probably throw out some ideas too, but need to see what direction you are leaning towards.

Put a lift on the front, and two jet skis.

Are you going to extend the side and front gates,? To match the others and colors, etc..

I'm not thinking of "extending" anything. Just moving the whole Seating area forward a foot. But now that I'm Really thinking about it, maybe 2 feet.

See how that back of the seating section is?

Storage and fuel section...

The Biggest problem with this POS is the lack of fuel storage!!!

V6 2-Stroke. It eats fuel like it's going out of style!!!

So I think one of my goals should be to get a bigger fuel tank in it.

But...

I don't want to spend a ton of money reconfiguring the whole boat!

Something like this wouldn't take to much fab work I would think? 🤷‍♂️

We have the under deck ladder from pontoonstuff.com

Sorry but don't know how to link to it using the phone.

That's it. Yes, we've been happy with it. Reasonably deep and don't have to climb up over the tube. It doesn't hang straight down but locks at a minimal angle.

I'm thinking maybe this one up front...

And these for the back? Anyone have these ladders?

Seems like a lot of work for 12 inches! 🥸

Carpet and seats are both Way past their prime. As all projects go, the snowball is moving forward.

After some thought...

3 feet is gonna be the minimum movement. Probably closer to 4.

I'll discuss with Lou at A1 Canvas tomorrow and make some measurements, IF he approves.

Stay tuned...

Seems much more logical, you’d still have a nice deck on the front with an additional comfortable back deck 👍🏻

If you use the ramp in the front I assume you'll cover it with something to avoid burning feet in the desert sun?

Good thinking. 👍🏼

I only go to the river in the spring and the fall though. Just have to play that by ear, if I even go that route.

Thanks for the idea!

These are like walking a tightrope, not good when you fall through.

Just like any other ladder. No fun to fall through but serves a purpose. Common sense and care required.

I'm thinking moving seating area more than 3 feet. Going to have wiring and helm issues, why not make some room for internal fuel tank. Depending on size may need more than 3feet. Fuel gets heavy back by the motor.
Oh and I did like the idea of a Mere 450..... 😁

It is going to be a great project. Here is a link to my updates over the years. I think a few of the site migrations may have lost some content but the idea is still in thread. I am giving this toon to my boys as their first Havasu boat. It is in my side yard and needs some TLC. I have really enjoyed working on this boat with my Dad. He is now going to need to also help his grandsons on the next revision.

Pretty hard to fall through a vertical ladder, so in deep water it might be fine except you might need a hand getting on the boat. I still feel it's an accident waiting to happen being used partially horizontal from the shore.:)

Are the teloscoping options on ladders like that? That could help for varying heights, conditions etc.
I like the large fore deck myself but understand how it may not be the most useful space for how you use your boat.
How will changing the balance of the boat effect it's performance? You may find a need to add lift to the pontoons afterward with more forward weight?

That particular ladder is either full in or full out. Stores under the boat's deck. Works well in our application but I also don't use it as a ramp. Bow of the boat sits low enough we just step on or off when pulling ashore.

I was just curious to know if a telescoping style was even available. Seems it would keep it more vertcle in various situations. The ramp style seems to cover many bases too and eliminates the fall thru risk potential. Even makes it easier for aging dogs, people etc. To board in multiple conditions. Ol' Joe may be an old stud but not everyone in his world may be on his level.

Looks like you already decided. I would do more. Thats a huge bow area you have. Unless you are putting a jet ski or a small rowboat. What will the space be for??

Of course it's always easier to sit back and give advice....

Nice project by the way !!!

Nothing decided yet. I'm just digging into this thing!

I picked that point cause it's just a couple of inches ahead of the support, which would give me lots of room to drill holes for hoses and cables.

If I go more, I'll move to the same spot in front of the next strut.

Right now...

I'm tripping on how this whole boat didn't burn to the ground. Probably should go buy a lottery ticket today.

Just wow.

Get a bigger prop, pitch, that'll give you better fuel economy.
