So Cure tix went on sale yesterday.

Last week I had "pre-registered" within a minute of receiving the announcement email.

Tuesday I received an email that I was waitlisted and would be put into a lottery system.

Yesterday a co-worker tells me she pre-registered on Monday. Then later she comes to my cubicle with a big shit ass grin on her face "I'm in." It took her about an hour wait but she was able to buy tix.

Me...crickets.

FML

Man, what a rockumentary. This film about the studio musicians nicknamed "The Wrecking Crew" is awesome, probably the best, and certainly the most informative, I've ever seen.

Famous riff after riff. We're talking iconic, history making songs.

Hal Blaine, a drummer, casually said "I had 170 something Gold records on the wall"....

Little known factoid - prior to the late 60's and early 70's, bands and supergroups did not play their own music, it was studio musicians like the Wrecking Crew.

I've posted this one up a couple of time, the TAMI show at the Santa Monica Civic in 1964...

Chuck Berry, the Beach Boys, Jan & Dean, James Brown, Leslie Gore, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, the Rolling Stones (w/Brian Jones) and an epic performance by Diana Ross/The Supremes. <----come on now, what an eclectic mix, but it happened, and it was live. Yup, The Wrecking Crew was the band providing the music (the crew included Glen Campbell and Leon Russell)

I also noticed Toni Basil as a choreographer.....yup, the "Mickey" chick from the 80's. Damn she musta been old.

As much as I enjoyed being in HS during the 80's - I think the 70's would have been great, too. Maybe even better?

I dig this song. Silly little story, but dang, it took balls to believe it would sell!

I've been reading Chrissie Hynde's book....

In her younger years she went out with a biker, who told her to get on her knees and open her mouth, Stop sniffling or you're gonna make some plastic surgeon a rich man

Nice choice Chrissie, lol No wonder she hates men.

Yup, they were old in the 80's.

Cheesy as hell but Sparks in Outer Space is a fun record.

So this U2 video was filmed at 7th/Main in DTLA in 1987.

I started working at 7th/Flower in DTLA in 1988.

Today I noticed in the backdrop is the infamous "Hotel Cecil", which I believe has recently been converted to housing the homeless fuccs.

If it wasn't raining tomorrow I would bolt over there for a photo op...maybe next week when it's dry.

The Supremes. The Motown songwriting team of HDH wrote 10 of the 12 number one hits for them, notwithstanding the songe HDH penned for the Four Tops

Holy crap, Johnette is smiling and looks like she's having a good time. No wonder, she's in Peru and the crowd drowns out her vocals while singing along.
