... Chicago Transit Authority.., Chicago’s first album ..,I saw them the weekend before this album was released...Shrine Auditorium... LA.,, Love opened then Procol Harum then Chicago ...there may have been another band intermingled in there somewhere but I’m not sure???

... anyway I’m in the process of reading Chicago’s drummer Danny Sersphine’s biography... Holy Fook???...All I can say is a must read for rock historians...
...
I had taken a date to the Shrine...a girl that I worked with at Litton Data Systems... I saw another girl I knew from LaTuna Canyon up in the balcony... so I told my date wait right here.., right in the middle of the dance floor ..,went up in the balcony to make contact with what became a future girlfriend...as we were up there talking Chicago started playing and when they got into ...it could’ve been.,,I am a man.., the Spencer Davis song...When it was time for the drum Solo... I was spellbound ...I had never seen that perfection in a drummer before.. when his extremely long solo...which could’ve been 20 minutes was done there was sweat slobber snd some blood everywhere...he had played the last half barehanded...ouch...

... my date never complained I think I had just turned her on to marijuana for the first time???...After the concert we went running around whatever that creek is up by the Greek Theater... the name escapes me for the moment???...

...I put this album on today trying to listen to the recorded version of his drums as generally the drums get buried behind ...in this case horn’s lead guitar and bass...

...The book mentions a couple people I knew and several more I knew of ...let me just put it this way Chicago was a mean place to grow up...

Hell yes!

After a patient 3-4 months of waiting for a deal to come along, I grabbed these turntables last night, $100 for both. Like new, they still have the "new" smell to them. Entry level DJ turntables, not audiophile quality. The deal is, like many other things, there is a shortage of new turntables and it has jacked up prices. I've seen these sell for as much as $300 each.

OfferUp is great when you find an ad that was written poorly. Here, the guy spelled "turntable" as turn table and his ad was confusing and incoherent....my score!

Can't wait to hook them up!

Great story.
Was just talking to my dad the other day. He has some 33’s that he wants my kid to have.
We briefly brought up how cool old school LP players sounded. 🤘🤘

...On a whim I just looked up Robert a Heinlein and ordered one of his science fiction books called stranger in a strange land ...this book was a biggie in the rock ‘n’ roll scene back in the 60s matter of fact I think the Leon Russell used the title for one of his albums...
...Anyway it looks like someone has just posted a song called cool green hills of earth that I believe was a poem from this particular book ...Mr. Heinlein did not take too kindly to my friends recording his poem and he sued them ..,for years I thought the payout was $25 ...one of the roadies recently told me it was a lot more than that...Dunno???... the late Jim Pulte does the initial vocals and Fontaine Brown comes in about midway through on vocals... when the Southwind did this song live it always captivated the crowds...👍
... just did a little research it looks like Green Hills by Robert eight Highland was a short story and apparently in it were several songs and one of the passages was cool green hills of earth...’ that’s what my friends got sued over...

Holy shit! Cheap Trick were a staple mid 70’s I’d guess.
This one was main stream. I’ll try to find a few others that I liked.

Hellz Yes! Cruel World festival with Morrisey, Blondie, Devo, Echo, PIL , Berlin, Missing Persons is back! Tickets this Friday. Bummed that Gary Numan is not on the ticket, neither is Marc Almond, but hey, we'll take it. Super pumped again.
