My trim tabs are mechanical indicators. The cable does not line up with the mounting point and will bend the cable if I raise the tabs.

I know it's kinda hard to see in the pics but they are the best I could do. And the cable is using the stainless pass-through on the braket.

When the tab is fully extended (down) there a few inches the unsheethed cable has to bend to go to the mount point. I feel it will cause the cable to bend verses slide in.

thats fairly normal. the crimp point where it passes through the transom is supposed to allow the cable to move around a little bit but they will still bend some too

What do they normally put on the end of the cable? Wouldn't a heim joint solve this?

First thing I'd do is start by washing your boat. 😂

Sorry, there's an a-hole in every crowd.

It needs that definitely. Trying to get this done. Then wash, new carpet and install interior

I have a stainless end that goes on. But still seems like a lot of bend

Put a heim joint on the end of the cable.

Mine really seems to need a rather large bend though. Just doesn't seem it will not bend the actual cable.

Loosen the nut on the past through. Chances are the rubber grommet is really hard. Put a Heim joint on the end with the pass-through loose get your travel dialed in tighten everything up I always like to put a dab of 5200 where the cable goes through as well. Tighten up the nut on the pass-through once the cable is secured on the tab. Also make sure that the cable is not getting bound up on the inside of the transom against some thing not letting it move as someone said above the pass-through is supposed to give you a slight range of motion .
