What do you drive for a commuter?

Your crazy if you drive that little thing. I would be claustrophobic in it.

I recall pulling up next to the first smart car when they came out in my old F450. I did a double take the occupants both looked at me. I made a hand gesture like if we crash and just shook my head. They both looked like they saw a ghost as the light turned green.

It actually has a good amount of room...back seat is unusable.

Car has a good crash rating and I’m not really worried since my average commute mph is less than 25.

In a lot of ways I actually prefer it to the volt I had.

It’s only a commuting tool never used to travel.

I put my deposit down on April 1, 2016. The current delivery estimator for my Model 3 is May-July. Even if it slips a bit, I still expect to get the Model 3 by late summer. I've started seeing them around Phoenix over the last few weeks, so I think that they are starting deliveries in my area. I'm OK with waiting, but I don't know if I can stand the Prius for too much longer :)
I did as well on the same date. I recently called to cancel and was told that if I hung in they had a cancellation I could have a model 3 within 2 weeks.....you might want to call and try that trick and see how it works out :D

I decided to just ask for my $$ back and still have not seen the check

How much did you spend on it? That's awesome and they seem like a decent mix of efficiency, and size.
It ended up being around 19k after rebates. Wish I could have leased but I drive too much. Car has been great, 60k on it so far. Changed the oil twice, that’s it! Same size inside as a Cruze, wish it had more headroom to get in and out, but one your in its roomy for the front seat passengers. Rear seat....not for adults

My commute is 30 miles each way, and having HOV access is a must for me. I have a Prius because it's cheap and gets my HOV lane access, but I will be looking to replace it with something else in the next 6 months or so. I have a deposit on a Tesla Model 3, but am also considering a Fusion Energi since that also gets me HOV lane access.

I have a volt, rode in a fusion (which is a bigger car) and expected it to feel bigger, what I experienced was that it had less front seat room by far. Had the passenger seat all the way back and down, couldn’t believe how cramped I was. It was a base model cloth car, maybe the higher trim seats are better?

That's not a bad choice. Tons of power, super reliable, the A body has tons of room and parts/upgrades are available everywhere, and can be built for less than a new Camry if you know what you're doing.

Trackhawk is my new commuter car. 707 hp of total sleeper and I can still get a 6 foot ladder in the back for jobwalks. We purchased a Chevy Bolt for the office commuter. That thing is awesome and you can use it in the car pool lane. You will need 220 volts and a quick charger. I think the range is 240 miles. We have 20,000 miles on it with no problems.

used to commute on a motorcycle, knocked back in the low 40's for mileage with it. My commute is 28.5 miles one way. now that I am the daycare bus the motorcycle is out. I am running an 11 Taurus SHO. Not a bad car but the seats suck. Being 6'4", many of the little cars are out. Considering something with a HOV sticker in the future but also wanting to see the new bronco or baby raptor....... I know, total opposites.

She's fun and just sips fuel! I cruise it when I don't need my truck. Down the road, I'll box the frame, new upgraded suspension, tube the interior and build up the LS to try and get about 650 - 700 HP out of her. I want that sucker to slide around corners!

2016 Honda Accord coupe V6, 30 mpg, 280 hp its a pretty fun car to drive. After I put almost 6,000 on my 450 in about 2.5 months I decided I didn't want to wear it out in the 1st year. 130 miles a day minimum. Its the first non truck I have ever driven. It took some getting used to and I actually enjoy it. I got it in Mid Jan and just turning 9,000 miles on it today. Oh and its a lease for $208/mo and $14k buyout.

2018 Chevy Silverado crew cab. Sit in traffic at least 1hr15 each way but I need a truck for the boat. And its comfy, but in a year or two will probably needed a beater so this thing last along time. I cant spend 50k every 4-5 year on a truck. This is the most I spent on any car ever!

I work from home. But have to go into Vancouver at least once per month on business. My truck technically is insured business only and its registered that way too. I'm looking at an older Jeep Wagoneer for towing. I need a grocery get car as well. So the Jeep will be good for that as well.

My ex brother-in-law bought a brand new 5 speed Saturn in 2000. He MAYBE had the oil changed every 15K miles, and never did any kind of maintenance or repairs to it. Shit would break or quit working, and that's how he would leave it. Damn thing had over 450K on the clock before it finally gave up the ghost! Damn good cars!

Thats pretty much how mine has been. It has a broken windshield. You have to help the drivers side window roll up. The AC quit working. Its all about how far I can get for as little as possible with this thing. I bought it at ~140ish, so it hasnt had an oil change in 60-70K miles. :) And people say their prius is green...

2014 BMW 328d. Picked it up late last year with 45k on the clock. It just turned 75k. My commute is 75 miles each way.
In the morning with good air and a mostly down hill commute I can hand calc over 60mpg.

Our Mazda’s have always lasted 250k miles.
We were givin a new loaded Malibu for a loaner this past week and I can easily understand why GM is closing the plant.
Clunky and noisy.

My daily commuter. But my commute is only about 60 feet from my bedroom to my office on the other side of the house. Get about 2 years out of a pair of these..... :)
