What the hell is happening with fuel prices in Calif?

Honestly no clue what is causing this past weeks huge increase in gas/fuel costs.,

Paid 5.19 at South Bay Area Costco for reg I think last Sunday.

Today it’s above 5.89….

Didn’t even look at diesel prices since I topped off my dodge about 10 days ago.

Any insight on what’s causing this other than Biden?

I heard the winter blend is actually less expensive than the summer blend, so shouldn't the prices fall for that reason alone?? I heard some of the refineries we're undergoing planned and unplanned maintenance, so I'm sure that's helping prices.

I work in trading at chevron corporate and spent most of this week responding to an FTC inquiry aviut West coast market manipulation.

California requires its own sub grade if fuel. It's only refined in California as no one else wants to pay for it as it's more expensive.

We (as well as the other few refiners) delayed turnaround to help with prices earlier this year so time to pay the piper.

Went up .10 overnight at my station in Carlsbad.
Earlier this year, I never saw $7 a gallon (for 87) at the Chevron on Tamarack and 5. It was 6.99 last night and the Mobil across the street was 6.13 (cash) / 6.29 (credit).

With work travel being paused (due to the economy), my free gas just left the family budget

AAA claims some Cali refineries are down..More than usual.

Some for scheduled maintenance and some not scheduled... He claims usually spring is scheduled maintenance but last spring they postponed due to high costs.... Now it has created this back logged shut down and dramatic increase..

Last week Joe pleaded with the gas stations to lower their prices...lol
