Hello all;
I am going to be in Dallas / Fort Worth area in early April for a few days. We have a wedding on the 10th but are flying in Tuesday night and going to visit a friend or two in the area. They have to work during the day so we are loose in the area with a rental car...... What should we do? We want to check out the area. We have done the stockyards already and will probably do a quick run through again but what else is worth checking out? Nice drives? Good food? Good drinks? Interesting things to visit?

Toss them out!

Thanks

Only 2 random things come to mind right off.
Texas Motor Speedway taking laps if they still do that on a consistent basis.
If you think dinosaurs are cool, Glen Rose TX, walking/hiking Paluxy River, the fossilized footprints are kinda neat, but not unless your really into that sorta thing, only about an hour from Ft Worth.

Dinosaur park looks kind of cool...... As I will be in Burleson visiting friends one day. Then I head up to Northlake for a day then out to Decatur.

Should be a good trip.

April brings our showers here in TX. Texas motor speedway not sure what will be going on then. Billy bobs ft worth, Glass Cactus at the Gaylord, Sneaky Petes on Lewisvile lake for a couple drinks outside. Hit up Marty B's in Bartonville for outdoor music and drinks fri/sat.

When you come into Northlake on you have 407bbq with bbq in front and 407 gun range in back building.

You will have in Roanoke Babes Chicken its fried chicken or chicken fried steak, Hard 8 bbq, Bayou Jacks, Roanoke is known for it food/restaurant row.

Dinosaur park.

If in Decatur on a Monday hit the cattle auction for a bit, then run over to Sweetie Pies for a rib eye sandwich.

Bet their will be a gun show going on thru out the area.

Cabellas in Ft Worth has a cool taxidermy scene to walk thru

Eagles Canyon, Cresson Motor Sports Park, Andretti karting, Frisco Gun Club, tight ends & some for real central Texas Brisket. Just a few of my favorite things to do there....

You to have been brainwashed, seek help...
Have you ever heard “Parker’s closed” around here. 😉

another BBQ joint in Fort Worth is Coopers in Stockyard area. Based in the Texas hill country, true pit BBQ where you pick your meats right off the smoker pits. My favorite, look up their menu, the largest variety of Smoked meats I’ve ever found, I assume the Fort Worth location is like the old school ones in central Texas hill country, I’ve not visited that location yet.

X100 on Hard Eight (at least in Coppel, just outside of DFW). Depending on where in DFW area you are, North Dallas in McKinney has Hutchins and Celina has Tenders BBQ. Plano/Frisco area has La Hacienda Ranch for Tex-Mex with multiple locations around Dallas.

For entertainment there is always Top Golf in Plano.

Love and War in Texas has been one of my favorites for decades. It has a great menu, and many entrees are based on wild game meats. Their chicken fried steak platter is awesome stuff. There's an outdoor seating area with live music, and on Sunday there's a cowboy church service.

Another plus is that the owners are staunch conservatives and active in Republican politics.

The restaurant is located in Plano, on the NE corner of the US 75 freeway and Plano Parkway

Go see the George W Bush Library. Very cool to see the process of his decision in response to 9-11. There is an interactive exhibit where u make the decisions as the information was developing. Really interestihg

If your a Baseball Fan you will probably be able to see a Rangers game 'In Person" the 1st week of April now that the Governor has given Biden the Bird. 🤪

Hutchins BBQ in Frisco is another great restaurant. I've been going to the original location in McKinney for over twenty years, and I think it's one of the best in North Texas.

A few months ago, the McKinney location was hit with an after hours fire for the second time in ten years. I regularly stopped there for a brisket and ribs platter going to and from my shop in Farmersville. It looks like repairs will take another four months.

The Frisco location is on Preston Rd, just north of SH 121.

Hutchins BBQ

The Dallas Cowboys new practice and administrative facility, The Star, is near Hutchins BBQ. The $1.5 billion development is on the Dallas North Tollway and Warren Road. They have a huge merchandise store.

The Rangers were already allowing fans for 2021 before the Governor opened up the state. Dodgers and Angels are hoping to have fans in the stands for opening day also. ;)

Texas is closed!!!

Dallas and Ft Worth are not texas, nor is austin. They are the shitty trifecta of New California.

Dr Pepper museum is all i've got. I avoid dallas like the plague.

I’d add Denton to the list.. very left up there.

Main Street in Grapevine. Bobs streak and chop house, try the carrot. Lots of winery’s, tourist type stuff. There’s also Tolbert’s, decent place with good chili.

If you get the itch to cook, really good butcher in Decatur, Wise Choice custom Meats.

Deep Ellum was always a fav go to spot of mine on the east side of Dallas. Old school manufacturing area that has been revamped to an eclectic/artsy entertainment area. like old downtown vegas without casinos.
