Had a blow out yesterday on the way home on my trailer. As fun as it was swapping it out on the side of the road in the heat with cars zipping by at 80 mph I'm going with a new set. What brands is everyone running ?

I just bought Hartland from Discount, probably Chinese, but I only tow 5 miles to the ramp. General consensus around here seems to be, change to 15' wheels and run LT tires of good quality.

I've been running hartlands for a couple years now with no problems.

These are the only trailer tires I have run for a while now with no issues.

Goodyear Endurance are speed rated to 88. Just enough to get back to the future!

Good tires. Like @Racey said LT is a good choice if you can find your size.

Careful tire places won't put car tires on a trailer. I took mine off the trailer and took it to them so they wouldn't bitch. If you got a buddy that does it that'll be better

I just put on the Goodyear Endurance tires and have been happy so far. Make sure if you go Goodyear that they are the Endurance not Marathons.

I run 235/80-16 goodyear endurance on my car hauler's and such.

I run 225/60-16 Kumho ecsta's on the Carrera boat trailer, zero issues.
I run 225/70-14 hankook somethings on my Centurion trailer, zero issues as well.

Thanks, good to know.

Hartlands are great and you can get the certificate that will replace them for any reason including sun rot, sidewall cracking etc. Just put the full ST version on our toy Hauler and did a 1000 mile trip.

I think equally important is the tire pressure and age of the tires. When buying tires look at the date stamp on the tires. Not just one tire but all four. If towing long distance and high heat do new tires every 4 years regardless of wear. That's my rules and I haven't had a tire failure in 7 trips from Texas to Arizona and back.

I have had marathons as well. Not bad.

The only thing I am dead set on is have steel valve stems. I had the rubber ones for a while and if they get a tiny crack and leak I would get blowouts.

How heavy is the boat and how many axles?

Light Truck tires or Passenger car tires (depending on the size of the boat). Trailer tires have become a complete joke.
I too run passenger car tires on my triple axle, zero issues. I tow 70 mph everywhere (speed limit).

I had a set of 235/80-16 Sailun S637s on a heavy enclosed Haulmark car hauler, those things are a brick shithouse, id buy them again in a heartbeat. Just an FYI for when you’re in the market for new tires, great option.

Age and Pressure are most important but also a good armor all type coating isn’t just for looks, even when kept in doors while at home.

Some tire shines will actually dry out the tire and speed up rotting. Most tire manufacturers do not recommend using it for that reason.

Unless you tow 15000 miles a year I would say get the correct load rating, and brands don't really matter all that much, more how often you replace and if they sit in the sun or garage. But who knows
