I'd like to get my oldest something in a couple months for his 6th birthday. I got my first quad in kindergarten too.

Everything I've looked at online tonight has crazy expectations for age requirement....I know no one follows that.
I've seen most manufacturers make a 90cc quad and a few make a 50cc.....I don't want to get him something that he will out grow fast. He'll be six, but is about the size of an average 8 year old anyway. I'm leaning towards the Raptor 90..but wanted some other input.

I was leaning towards a RZR 170.... But those are just too pricey.

Thanks for the help:thumbsup

Suzuki LT80's when they where 5, rode them until they where 12. Modified them as they grew. I have twins, so they matched also.:p

Got my daughter a Kasea 50 at age 4. Total POS!! Complete waste of $1000. Thanks for reminding me.:p

LT80 and a Honda 90 now. Both are great. LT50's are hard as hell to find anymore, but great quads. Still looking for one nearby for my 6yr old son.

They banned the 50's because they were marketed for children under 12 and there is too much lead content for a child. Stupid stupid people. The lead isn't what is going to hurt the kid... Eating shit will. Anyway, don't base your purchase of what the age requirement sticker says. If he fits it, get him the gear and let him have fun.

Same machine except both kids at 3 years old.

👍
We picked up that 50 and an LT 80 as a package from a fellow RDP member,I think he goes by Hi-Line here?

Best $1200 I ever spent.

i had a suzuki 80 quad from the time i was like 6 until mid teens. i eventually was too big for it and could throw it around, but it worked. it was a CVT drive, so just press the gas and go, electric start, it was perfect for a kid.

LT80 at 6 years old... best sand toy investment ever! Trouble free for countless hours until she got a Blaster at age 12.

Bought the girls an LT 80 Suzuki when they were 5 and 6 yrs old for xmas, they are 20 and 21 now and have a full size , the LT 80 has been sold and passed down .... it is still going strong...they are really tough and also have speed controls so you can add power as they need/can handle it  ;)

Great thread!

Been thinking of a small quad for the Grandson when he visits. (He is 9)

We have room at home for him to ride around. (4 acres)

My kids are grown, but my oldest daughter had a tri-zinger 3 wheeler many years ago... think it was a 50cc?

Lt-80 at 6...then passed on to second son. Those machines are amazing.
We bought a used Raptor 80 for our granddaughter, she will be 6 in June. 3 speed with automatic clutch.

Just watch craigslist in Redding. I see them pop up all the time there and Chico, but I can never get over there before they sell.

Anyone have or know of someone with a Can Am DS90 or DSx 90?

The DSx looks bad ass!

I still have the first bike i bought them.
They started on a Honda trike 70, then i bought them Raptor 80.
The Raptor 80 is a great bike, it has never given us problems. The electric start was way better than the pull start.

I bought an '86 trx 70 when Christie was 6months pregnant with our first and I just tucked it away.

She is almost three now.

My kids started off on my quad from when I was a kid. Yamaha moto4. Thy outgrew that and had a Polaris 50 (wasn't much bigger) then stepped up and got them a Suzuki 250 (ages 10 and 12).

They also started out with a pw50 with training wheels. And now have an xr100.

The go to kids quad would be an lt80 if you can find one in good shape.

Here's a couple pics. He's 5 in both pics. Only reason he had the quad is because he was too small to ride the XR50 at 3 years old. They didn't have the good training wheels they have for them now.

And here's his older sister at 10 years old... She could outride the boys in our group.

We started them young and let them have fun

Kids have been riding since they were 3. Now 6 and 8. Blisters are a killer! Putting the training wheels back on the PW 50 for the baby, she turns 3 in March and getting my son a SX 50.

Hard to say...

All depends on the kids maturity level.

Know what I mean? 😉

I got a pair of Honda trx90 a few months back. My son was 18 months when I first put him on them. He won't stay off the things now

Bought my daughter an lt80 when she was 7. She rode that until she turned 11. At that point it looked small for her. They are great quads tho. I still have it. My buddy wants to buy it for his boys. You really can’t go wrong with an lt80 for the little ones.

The pic below is her last weekend with it before she got a new one.

Prior to that he was riding a 90cc bike.

My daughter went from a Zinger quad (60cc) at a little less than 3.5 yrs old, to a 90 Polaris around 8yo and on the Banshee by 11. She imbarrassed plenty of boys in the dunes. Learned stickshift/clutch on the dune buggy with only one stall.
Lol, she's 28 now 😊

My daughter got her suzuki 50cc quad on her 2nd bday. Her 1st race was when she was 2 1/2 years old. Her hands were too small to grab the brakes, so i had to run beside her to help her with the brakes. It was the Searchlight GP in 06'. It was between a 1/4 and a 1/2 mile motocross course and she wanted to do 2 laps, my feet were not happy about it. She was hooked....

Sorry for misfire. I never rode but wife grew up in desert. He got TTR 125 big wheel at 10. I got KTM 400 EXC at same time. He hated going 5feet and stop to learn how to work the clutch

Kasha mini 50 for my daughter at age 5. Had a tether to kill the motor. Buddy had one for his son age 5 with remote stop, we had some good laughs with that and some cold beers.
