Max bank loan limit on a 06 LBZ is 16k. In good condition 20-25k all day.
I had one, but traded it in once I got it back (theft recovery).

I sold mine last year for $24k I believe. Wasn’t 4x4 so that hurt me. I think he was underpaid by about 3-4K.

That’s why I haven’t bought one yet... 200k Miles is a little too high for my comfort zone. I get the engines last. But what about everything else. I have an 02 with less than 200k. Shits falling apart

They are a good truck no doubt. But they are over hyped imo. Some guys asking 30k for a 12 year old truck is nuts

For some reason people love the LBZs and I used to as well until I rode in a new one. I'm betting my 2016 CCSB 3500HD Denali 4x4 Duramax/Allison will hold it's value for time to come. I ordered it from the factory and it has every option including rear entertainment blu ray, sunroof, NAV, heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel, rear sliding window and underbed 5th wheel rails from the factory. Sticker was $73K and change but I paid $61K OTD with nothing down. It's paid off now and only has 26,000 miles so I think it will last me a long time.

PS, it's also deleted and tuned with EFILive, Air Dog 4G-165 lift pump, S&B intake, Flo Pro 5" exhaust, FTE resonator and has a built trans/TC from Mike L at Inglewood Transmission in Fullerton. Just need to do a 10MM CP3 swap, 60% over injectors and a twin kit.

No one ever talks about that stuff lol.

I had an 04 (injector issues) but even taking that out of the equation.

Truck needed new 4wd, bearings, couple other things between 80k miles when I bought it and 160k when I sold it. I very well may have been unlucky but I’d figure on any used diesel you have 5k needing to be spent somewhere

My pops 06 LBZ 4x4 went for 29k last year
like I said.... I'm just not see'n the value... but I do know this, every time he drove it he was afraid of it getting stolen... and the constant... is this truck for sale notes,... he had to go out of town, parked it in my garage... said too many people knew it was in his garage.. I just laughed... ah OK...

Part of the value of the LBZ is it's pre-DPF/Urea and the other part of it's value is $25-30,000 seems like a bargain when new F450s are going for $100,000+ and 3/4 and 1 Ton trucks are going for $80,000+.

Same deal with used boat prices. As the market improves, and new boat prices increase across the board, the used market value continues to rise. Simple economics/Supply and Demand.

My theory too engine itself may last but there's too many electronics on them and emissions that can fail which may cost half the truck to repair.

Exactly right. They were 360 hp, 1st year with the 6 speed Allison. A much simpler truck than the new ones.

Anyone that pays $100k for a 450 didn't do their work.

Beautiful truck. What size wheels and tires do you have? I had methods too on my 2007.5 LMM SDP twinned truck.

Thanks! They are 17X9’s

I like the look for this truck. These Discoverer SST’s are noisy but look awesome.

What I can never understand is why you would buy a 12 year old diesel with 200K miles and a low tow rating (12K/15K)? You can go get a new 360HP gasser with a 6 speed transmission with the same tow rating. That new gasser will be under warrenty and less money to operate.

Still driving my 2005, every two years I say I am going to off it. And then I keep. Just picked up a 2018 6.2 1/2 ton as a daily driver versus replacing my Duramax again. You can talk to a lot of people about diesels and they will tell you they liked or miss their old trucks. Mine has 97,000 miles on it. I'll drive it another 10 years I think. I only tow my 30 with it..

Exactly. I purchased an 04 in 2011 from the original owner. Only had 87k on it. Dealer had just replaced all 8 injectors, gauge cluster, and intermediate steering shaft.

Still needed all steering components, hub assemblies, water pump, glow plugs, etc over the course of 50k miles. Guy that bought it from me scored. Everything was better than new

Because you have to run the gasser at 3500 RPM up a hill and have to floor the truck sometimes, and that drives some people crazy and they think it is gonna explode.

When I sold my 2007.5 to a dealer, I had just recently replaced all of the front end components including steering parts, ball joints, bearings, tie rods, rotors and pads all around, new built transmission, new shocks and new wheels and tires. Lost my ass on that deal but I just wanted a brand new truck.

They come from the 454/460 days where 2k was what you wanted to run towing.

The new motors can sing at 4500 rpm all day. My father in law had a hard time getting used to their V10 Moho. Coming from an anemic 454.

No DEF or other crap. Easy to tune for more power. Interior is cheap to fix. Front end is cheap to rebuild.

It may need injectors at some point, but they will run forever pretty much.

I think its just like the used boat market. New trucks are just so damn expensive that the older models are keeping their value. Look at what old 7.3's are going for, it is absolutely insane.

I bought an 04 duramax for 15k a couple years ago with 87k on the clock new injectors and still get offers to buy it for 18k-20k regularly. Be nice to sell but I can't afford a new 6.7 powerstroke.

Not true, either part.

It has alot to do with no DEF, bulletproof engines, easy to tune, and the cost to buy new is $65k+!

I sold a 2006 2500HD with 110k Miles for $28k to a guy who flew in from San Francisco. These trucks are in crazy demand. I sold it last August and STILL get people calling/texting about it.

When I bought it, they had a waiting list of 6 guys if I didn't come through.

Mainly because it's diesel. I loved my LB7 and the LBZ is way better. However, my Ram DRW 3500 drives like a Lexus, I constantly look down and see that I'm doing 90mph. In my old trucks, it felt like I was doing 90, now it's smooth, quiet and the engine doesn't even work hard

Yup.......the 06 and Early 07 was the "Holy Grail" (Where have I heard that before) for the Duramax all the way to 2015 or 2016. It was the only year with that strong non-DEF motor AND the 6 speed Allison.

I bought one last year (extended cab - 1 Ton) with 100K miles, Fully loaded with Leather, Heated seats, EFI Live and a 72GA slip tank for $22K from a snow bird who was here from Canada and had the exchange advantage going for him.....and I thought I stole it........it sure does a great job hauling my 14K lb 5th wheel and I am going out of my way not to drive a new one cuz I know I'll fall in love and this thing basically just sits around waiting for a trip.

Bought my 06 4 x 4 LBZ Crew Cab new in 06. Have had NO issues in 178,000 miles except replaced the batteries and thermostats. I keep it serviced and all filters and fluids clean. Use Synthetic trans fluid. I talked to a guy in Parker that had the same truck as mine last summer, he asked how I liked my truck and how many miles on it, at the time I had about 160,000. He said he had 509,000 on his! Asked him what all he'd done to it, he replied.........NOTHING! My dealer said he'd write me a check for $20,000.00 if I wanted to sell it. Would like to have a new truck but really don't want to spend $70K + when I have a nice, unmolested truck that serves me well......

Sure the new ones are great but in a few years they’ll just be another used truck. Meanwhile this one gets it done. If the 2020’s are impressive, I’m a customer. But I want 500 hp/1000 tq factory with a warranty, no visible piss tank, Allison 9 speed & 35’s on factory suspension.

There’s a possibility since Trump has made the epa ease up on the automakers we might end up with a decent generation of diesel trucks. We will see.

If not then I might wait longer.

Here is my 05 LLY/LBZ. The truck is unreal, low maintenance, simple, and I think it is the ultimate duty built river truck of my generation. Keeping for the long haul - I never say never but I am not much of a dog person. I have a pickup instead.

No DPF, no DEF, very little smog shit in general, has the same 6 speed trans as the 2007.5 - up trucks, and good HP / TQ out of the box. The most reliable Duramax ever produced. The term gets thrown around alot, but a 06-07 LBZ 4x4 SB CC is..........THE HOLY GRAIL OF DURAMAX TRUCKS

The credit union was willing to loan up to $35K when I sold mine. Think blue book was around $22K on it. If I had only bought a 3500 instead of the 07 f450 I would be $150K ahead live and learn.

Does DEF really bother you guys that much? I’m talking 2016 forward trucks. I know there were initial issues in the 07-09 trucks

Just an inconvenience really. I don't like where they mount low on the new trucks. Relocate kit and be done. I would rather have new all day. The old trucks are rattle boxes compared.

My buddy has an 06 with 160k on it. It is super clean and still as tight as a drum inside. Only real noise it had was the intermediate steering shaft. It just has 265s and Bilstein HDs on it though, which is probably why it has developed rattles inside.

The headliner is starting to come apart though. His has cloth seats, and I think those wear much better than the leather seats do.
