For me riding wise I love havasu. Trails for 1000’s of miles if not more. I have been in the dirt from havasu to primm all the way to Alamo Lake. There are plenty of attractions and sights to see, as well as a plethora of type of terrain such as sand, silt, mud (when it rains) ridge line, rough whoops, graded roads, washboard for miles. High speed rough trails ect. There are several cabins. I have been to 4 of them. Plus a wash plant, plus caves and mines. My day rides are typlically 70-90 miles and I do 50+ mile night rides.

Downside is most people own a home so you don’t get the camping side of it which sucks for my family as we camp when we go there.

Another favorite is Glamis, totally different than Glamis but the riding there is also endless. Make your own trail. Camping and group camping is 10/10 riding is awesome too especially if you have a V8 rail. Glamis rides are typically 20-40 miles 1-2 times a day.

Places I would like to ride more but just don’t know the area so I have some bias there is Johnson valley

A lot closer to home. I’ve been about 10 times my entire life. Usually camp off of Bessemer mine road somewhere. (Not sure if that is the good spot or not) to me Johnson valley seems very small compared to havasu to Glamis. And whooped out everywhere. Again not sure if it’s my bias or not?

So what about you? What do you like or not like?

We do primarily Dove Springs/Red Rock,Cal City,Dumont and Glamis. Used to do Pismo but since no over night camping we haven’t gone up there.

Have been going to Ocotillo Wells and Superstition for almost 20 years, and while it has definitely changed since the sxs boom it is still one of my most favorite places in the world. Some excellent flowing washes that you can get into a great rhythm with, especially right after a rain where the braking bumps have been washed away. Also love some of the more open desert sections where you can pick your own line, especially between pole line road and the blue inn, just be sure to avoid the frontage road like the plague.

Other great places are Quartzsite for a lot of the same reasons as havasu, a little less crowded and Northern Arizona for the Summer.

Really tough question. So many places, so little time!

Sand?

St Anthony's or Oregon Dunes.

SA is beyond huge. You can fly 5th gear pinned for miles. Oregon? Pine trees and single track trails right on to the beach? Heaven on earth for sure.

Dirt?

Joe's Valley Utah. Trails for weeks to ride. Camping on the lake, riding to almost 12k. It's hard to get bored up there. I'd like to explore Duck Creek next.

Local SoCal?

Lots to explore from Dove Springs, but the wind can be a bitch. Just started exploring Death Valley. Can't wait to head back again. Spangler Hills isn't too bad either.

Glamis of course as well.

Joe's Valley Utah in July. Road blocked by the snow.

We sure had fun around Havasu. RZR wasn't even a word yet.
Go anywhere you wanted from the driveway for a quick ride.
That is slowly coming to an end
Used to go to Castle rock and the dunes.
North point closed part of it and now Castle rock building homes
We moved our rzr to Williams AZ
First pic is where North Point is now

Really enjoy camping at Dove Springs. I feel like it’s a good central location you can get to Schmidt Tunnel, Ransburg, Spangler, and some great trails through Jawbone and the Piutes.

Although last trip out to Dove over the Thanksgiving The BLM rangers kind of hassled our camp and rubbed us the wrong way so might be done with Dove for awhile.

I also like Spangler but have been going there for years and kind of burnt on it.

Sand- Glamis- Haven’t been there in a few years but always enjoyed camping and driving there.

Grew up going to Ocotillo and Glamis. It's been 10 years since I have been to Glamis and probably 5 for Ocotillo. It too easy to just go straight from the garage in Havasu. I think the trails around Havasu blow away Ocotillo as well. If we are taking the Jeep, I like going to the BLM land on the California side of Parker. The trails are in better shape because there are a lot less SXS's and there are just generally a lot less people down there.

On a dirtbike. Ocotillo wells.

Now that I'm in a canam, pretty much all of Arizona. Peoria to Wickenburg, Parker, havasu, wikiup, Kingman, Williams, Sedona, Prescott, crownking, Stoneman lake, young, bartlett. I cover a lot of ground in the sxs. Lots of great land out there.

San Felipe to San Ignacio and back. Greatest 7-10 days you could ever spend. Hate that i haven’t been since my boy was born, but hopefully next year or soon. Most beautiful place on earth in my opinion. San Fransquito is my dream retirement location.

Have you been to OW recently? I find it to be getting less and less friendly to 2 wheels. I have gone head on with UTVs twice in the last 3 years and the chatter is gnarly. Over thanksgiving I found myself taking the whoop line off the side of the trail to avoid the chatter. Still the best place in the world for terrain but I was getting hammered on my way to the good terrain.

I've been going once a year for new years since I moved to AZ four years ago. And yes it has changed. One of the many reasons I left CA. In the past I almost lived out there with my bike during the winter. Times change and I do miss how it was out there.

Have been out to the sycamore canyon overlook off white horse lake? That is a really cool view not sure if the fire this summer jacked that up though? You're in a good area to head out from too. When the dps would do commercial vehicle checkpoints we would drive our boom and bucket trucks to Belmont from Williams on the forest roads. You could always tell the city slickers as their eyes would be enormous when we would pass them on the road.

Sycamore canyon never gets old. Just a fun ride out to there.
First thing we did when they let us in was go see it after the fire
It was amazing to already see so much new growth everywhere.

I must be the Only one that can't stand Ocotillo! Lol

It's not Desert dirt, it's fine silt dirt, any wind and it's in every thing! Nasty stuff.

And there is nothing growing there. It's almost like the moon. Way too small of an area for my tastes.

Ages ago, our quad club did an Oregon Dune trip that one of the guys made a vid of after.

Enjoy...

Heard they were grading at Castle Rock. If they’re having problems pouring slabs at North Point i can’t imagine what this will be like. Cool location though.

Spangler, DUMONT, Glamis.

Infighting and drink-until-you’re-unconscious behind the wheel broke up most our DUMONT group.
Have to hook up with a new group.

Havasu/Glamis/Hualapai Mtns. Mexico is on a whole different level and the beach/mountain rides are something everyone should experience.

Seriously, there's a lot going on in downtown and midtown; the Red Wings just broke ground on a massive new arena district, and a light rail line is being built down Woodward. The Tigers, Lions, and Greektown casino are all within a five-minute walk of one another. There are numerous breweries and beautiful architecture.

Most importantly, I am very familiar with the city; I've been there hundreds of times for work or pleasure, and I always have a good time.
