I’m remote camping in Mammoth area this week.
Brought my trusty Mossberg 500 loaded with 00Buck and my Shield with 115gr Hollow points.

My AR’s don’t identify as Californian so I leave those at home.

The only time I travel in Moho without a gun is if I’m going into Canada. You can get a permit but it’s a pain in the ass at the border for them to verify it’s locked and stored in a safe. I have to open the slides to access the safe.

If I owned any guns, a Mossberg 500 w 18" barrel with 00 Buck and a .45 or .40 would be a nice choice.

The question isnt in having just one gun ...... it’s how many guns do you bring

motorhome bedroom
motorhome side compartment
other side compartment
kitchen area
extra vehicle
back up gun for wife
roof top gun turret location

like really when does it stop.....

then how much ammo....

one gun for me
one gun for myself
and
the last gun for that asshole I ! He’s a real jerk by the way....

I now take a ruger pc9 so the ammo matches the hand guns. Just one type of ammo needed this way.

CA black bears are the size a German Shepard.

I would be allot more worried about a mountain lion than a black bear.

Yes the majority of Blacks are pretty wimpy but your not taking down a 300#-350# Black Bear with a shotgun or a 9mm, lol. A 500-600 Pounder your probably only taking down with a heart shot even with a 10mm or 45 ACP. You really need a high caliber rifle to penetrate when they start getting that much fat layer on them. Luckily for the most part they aren't aggressive

Seriously, guys. Black bears are mostly harmless. Just make some noise and they’ll run off. Keep your situational awareness and just make sure you don’t get between mom and cubs and you’ll be fine
