My last boat, with a 225 promax, had nearly 2000 hours when I sold it.

Back in the day my old 1987 21' Eliminator Whaler photo/work boat w/tower had just over 4000 hours on the same Suzuki V-6 200 HP outboard in 26 years. My maintenance regime was lousy (never changed the impeller although I always carried a spare). It never was in a repair shop at any time. It was a pretty tired piece by the time I sold it.

The hour meter on my 1992 Malibu Flightcraft with a Yamaha ProV 200 says 2822. Had the compression checked not too long ago and all good. She runs hard and has never let me down. Yamaha guy said they are known to go 4000 hours with normal maintenance and Yamalube.

Suzuki is starting to get a really good reputation in the bass tourney world.

Lol not in Alaska. They are shit

I went 800 hours on a Merc 496 Mag without issues.

Most of my family’s merc 300 verados are in the 5000 plus realm.

Have a 2005 15 mercury when I tore it down last winter the ring gap was .044. new is .008 to .011. You could have shaved with those rings. That poor thing would have worn out an hour meter.

Those guys also think 300-500hrs is a lot of hours on an outboard 🤣🤣 Two speeds in a glitter boat...idle and pinned.

I've seen a lot of Yamaha and Honda's back home with 2000+ of almost no maintenance hours other than just being flushed. Those Honda's seem to go forever if you keep them from corroding.

I have a 7.4 LX Mpi in my 97 Essex Sterling and its nearing 810 hrs. Bought the boat with low 600's and zero issues.

In the harbor a couple slips down is a twin engine Sea Ray. Same engines and he has over 1500 hrs.

Were talking Big Block chevy here. Key is maintenance and the fact they are fairly low power @ 310.

2000 hours is impressive👍. I think @throttle had racked up quite a few hours on his cobra before he sold it.
And the meter is still rollin with that same buyer. Actually I was in a cove last weekend and looked out towards the lake and saw him drive by. What are the odds, pretty good I guess cuz my back was turned most of the afternoon. 👍

Had to replace valve springs at 300 hours. Known to be a weak link.

I am shocked you don’t have more with the time you get on lake. 👍
We spend lots of time beached so the kid can play on the beach.
Plus being at the Islander now, we go out for shorter periods of time instead of all day boating sessions now.

my Formula before I sold it had 2400 hours on the boat. the port engine was OG and the stbd engine had been replaced only because of the known tbolt ignition failure that maxs out the timing and detonated the engine.

I've seen that in MX too.
I fish with guys that have mostly single Yamaha 115 or 150's with tiller steer. Been on a couple with big hours like that.

96 Sanger DXII with 780+ hours. 350 Mercruiser with a carb. Smokes a little when cold, but still running stout.

My Nordic had 607 when I sold it last year. After looking at these numbers, I don't feel so bad.

I probably had at least 300 hundred of those hours and that damn thing never skipped a beat!

I have a pair of Merc 5.7L magnum MPIs pushing 12,000 lbs cruiser… over 900 hours each! Still running strong as the day they were built.

guy down in Texas built a 200HP OB Honda to race DSRA, I think. Ended up with almost 700HP and they wouldn't let him race in the class he built it for. In theory, the motor will now last forever.

Occasionally I drive a Mastercraft for a water ski school. Don't know the maintenance schedule, but the boat has a little over 5000 hours last time I looked.

Thats a ton of hours. I skied behind a Mastercraft in Singapore with a diesel engine they told me had over 4000 hrs. Other than the boat being a beater, the other thing I remember was the huge puff of diesel smoke in my face getting up out of the water as it struggled to get on plane.

I figure that is about 400 hours per year. I know the motor has never been out of the boat.

My 2001 496 Mag has a little over 500 hours. Turnkey and zero issues. I did just have to replace the Gimbal ring that was worn out and finally cracked but the rest of it has been trouble free. At 400 hours I changed the prop from a 24 4-blade to a 26 4-blade to lower the RPMs, Just taps redline instead of banging it hard, keeps the RPMs down on longer trips and saves some fuel.

Almost 1200 hrs on our 2007 Evinrude Etec.
Love that motor, barely uses any oil and gets 6 mpg at around 3800 rpm's.

1500+ / 502 Mercruiser in an AMERICAN OFFSHORE 26 / The last 2 years of its life it would take an hour to get it started -drain water out of the no 7 cylinder , head gasket leak and then the breaker bar on the harmonic balancer to rotate to what teeth were left on the flywheel / good times ……😎
