Tapia/Charlie is my "go to place" since I'm only a couple miles away. Rode there this morning, just a bit cold and windy. Heading out to Vail Lake tomorrow for some suffering. If you ever see me out on my pile be sure to say hey.

Lauf Fork!! Awesome. Tell me how you like it. Gates carbon drive as well, gotta be a light build. 17-1/2 18-1/2#?

The bike is amazing in every way, fork is flawless and the belt drive works great. It is right at 18lbs ready to ride. Going to try some lighter tires and Raceface next SL cranks, that should get into the 16lb range.
Yesterdays race at Vail Lake was an absolute mudfest.

Last week spent 3 days in Laguna beach. id Aliso Viejo park Top of the world "rock it" and others and then Laguna nature Preserve for 2 other rides. awesome riding. but like the San Gabriels and Castaic more. hear are some long shots of the ocean. Top of Laguna. also a found a snake warming up. little early for them to be out? mother nature fooled them.

I ride Specialized, S-Works Fast Track 2.0's they are extremely light. 470gr. As long as it's not super rocky where you're riding or racing, they're fine. Thin sidewalls don't do so good on some trails here in Arizona. I actually have two sets of Rovals. One with Fast Track, S-Works tires and the other with Fast Track, Controls.

Years ago, when we all rode rim brakes, you were lucky to be able to roll home. Now you can usually wrap it in the wheel and finish the ride.

Piked it up last night. Couple new spokes and a straight rim. Guy adjusted the bearings also. I bled my brakes as they were getting squishy and actually the front was contacting the grip.[emoji15] All back together now and headed out in a few on a nice ride. It's beautiful here today[emoji41]

Same here. Got some good miles in. Did a rode ride today. Came up on a really fast chick, rode with her for about an hour. Nice scenery, we took turns at the front and were averaging 26 MPH. Never had a girl stay on my wheel so tight before!! Good fun.

Was supposed to go riding tonight. But butched out, apparently I should have gone. Best friend is now concussed with a second degree AC separation on his right shoulder.

Where in the hell did you get 10K in 70 miles? Thats a huge day. The usual formula is 1000 feet per 10 miles for a big climbing day. Tell me where that was. I see your in Glendale, I'm in North Peoria. Well done!!

Also, I hit the edit button on your post rather than quote, it shows I edited your post. I didn't edit it, I exited it when I saw what I did.

So Cal... Ventura to Carpenteria, over 150 to Ojai, down the bike path at the 33, and then back the way you came because there was a fire... was supposed to be 35mi and 5k feet, ran out of daylight the last 20 miles[emoji35]

That doesn't sound that hard. Claremont wilderness loop which isn't that hard climbs 900 feet In 2 miles.

I agree, Verdugo is easily 1000 feet or more in 2 miles.

It doesn't. BUT when you do the kind of day he did (out and back) you do all the vertical in 35 miles. Every climb is a descent and every descent is a climb. Doing big climbing days like he did, you never get to recover between big wattage output demands. When I did the Tour Divide in June, we looked at the route for the day and they all averaged 110 miles @ 10K. We knew it would be tough if it was more than 1000 per 10 miles. his effort was an average over the 35 miles of climbing 5 percent grade, that means there was a bunch that was less and a bunch that was more. 5 percent is significant.

To get a really good idea what that shit does to you, go get a heart rate monitor and watch your heart rate blow up all day. I ride Bartlett lake road on my road bike. Out AND back is 25 miles and its only 2400' it wipes my ass out. But, I'm an old dude.:D

Road bike? that makes it even more impressive due to the lack of MTB gearing.

Damn that is why I try and ride reserved. I wouldn't be able to work with injuries like that.[emoji47]Hope your buddy recovers quick.

LOL Change that to I saw an actual this morning. Small one between 12' and 18" lying on the side of the trail. I stopped to make sure it was a rattler and he was plenty pissed off but prob still a little cold to move. Be careful here they come. On another note had a great ride this morning.[emoji106]

Saw this oner last weekend over at Alamo lake. He was laying on the pavement, really, really flat, getting all the warmth from the road on his body he could get.

I have ridden 3 days this week.

Monday tapia cyn 2.0 hrs knoa logans run, g out no snakes
Tuesday brown mountain el prieto 1.5 hrs no snakes
Wednesday tapia cyn, 3.5 hrs Kona, logans run, sidewinder, g-out. saw some people I rode with at end of last year. So I headed back up with them, and we did dog tags and back out to car. I am done and beat. Was nice to meet up with people you get along with on the trail.

I usually ride by myself, but riding with partners makes it fun also.
Did I say I love mtn biking. The thrill of going down fast and jumping and hanging on, corners, switch backs, rock gardens, drops humps, snakes. etc, the focus has to be 100% at all times. Makes all the demanding hard climbs that much easier, When know you your going to have an epic down hill.

Been riding 3 days a week.
El prieto, tapia cyn, mt pinos, went to mammoth a few weeks back and rode rock creek trail 2 times after skiing each day.
Had a flat running through a rock garden. Lucky I had a tube with me fixed it and rode the rest of way down sliced tire. Tube worked great. So if your packing your camel back, remember to bring 1 extra tube. And some tools also a spare little pump. I ride tubeless, but a tube will save your ride. It saved mine.

So I finally picked up a bike. Needed something to get me out of the house. Been mostly riding the streets and at the beach but I'm trying to find some fun dirt places to ride. We have a spot over by the coast called Del Cerro park that I've heard is fun. Probably check it out in a week or so. I'm so out of shape it's gonna take me a while to get the stamina up. This is what I picked up.

I'm still riding 3 days a week buddy. I went off this small cliff about a month ago. Crashed hard at the bottom and bruised my femur, got a nice sprocket puncture above my knee and had some really good road rash to go with it. Also broke my helmet and bent my rear wheel, but didn't miss any work and only missed a week of riding. :thumbsup

I was on a new to me detour and came up on a sharp turn carrying too much speed.

Nice bike Djunkie!
