Oil gauge suddenly pegging at max pressure. It doesn't matter if it's idling or cruising at 70. Temp gauge is normal, no unusual noises after an hour of driving.
I'm guessing loose wire on sending unit or bad sending unit. any ideas?
It's the 5.3, 90k miles.

I agree either a loose wire, or a bad sender.

Sent from the huge white thing vibrating in my pocket.

Not sure about 2006, but my 2005 GMC had the same issues starting at about 50K miles. Turns out there was a "silent" recall on the Instrument Cluster. I also thought it was a sending unit, wiring, etc., and as it was out of warranty did not pursue with dealer until around 90,000 miles. They stated that Delfi(?) was replacing the defective clusters if brought in before 60,000 miles! Didn't buy my story. If the rest of the cluster starts to at up, might have to replace it. San Bernardino Truck Dismantlers, 909-796-5211, usually have some used ones, just hard to tell how long they will last? If I remember correctly GM wanted $600 installed for a new one.
