Fuel pump went bad because fuel sock disintegrated or melted in tank. Clogged injectors and fuel lines. Any ideas on how that could happen?

Did just that. But I was wondering why the pickup sock would melt or disintegrate.Did you leave fuel in it for a long time?
Clean or replace the injectors. Clean out the lines, replace the pump and you should be rolling again, right?

It’s a gas tank, there’s always gas in it.
Thanks
