WELCOME TO RIVER DAVES PLACE

Will the lights ever shine again, or is she too far gone?

I’m thinking the Colorado Belle closure is more likely do to being condemned and not the covid excuse as stated.

This is just my opinion from the looks of things. The river-walk deck (which is the ceiling/roof of the lanai rooms below) is actually collapsing. Reinforcement was put in place as an attempt to prolong the inevitable.

I would suspect the money involved bringing this place back up to code requirements to be astronomical and I’m sure the boat structure has many issues as well.

Just wondering how long this thing will sit and continue to fall deeper and deeper into major disrepair until a forced demolition.

Shame to see such an iconic place just fall into ruins, Hell, it’s not really that old either, 1980 I think.

I’ve been boating this area for 30 years and have stayed at every one of these hotels here along the strip (except the Pioneer… lol) and I have to say, my fondest memories have been at the Belle.

Engineering problem, or lack of maintenance, either way a downright shame.

Considering the smae company owns all 3 casinos across the river there they are gonna pick the best operating to run, maybe if Covid calms down they might use the Belle as demand picks up but its not worth it to put $$ in when they have 2 good hotels next to it.

For sure a sad sight. I grew up staying there as a kid and have some great memories, from the all you can eat ribs to being in the arcade for hrs. Took the wife there a few years back for a weekend trip, got into our room and watched a few cockroaches doing laps around the lamp shade and up and down the walls. Needless to say we didn't stay. I truly hope that they can bring it back to it's old glory, but I think those days are long gone.

New Resort? I wouldn't see that happening anytime soon in these times.

'Rona is an easy excuse. Looks like it's ready to collapse with all of that bracing.

Tear it down and start anew.

I wouldn't doubt that either, but there was a conversation at a meeting recently about it. I actually worked on the lighthouse when The Belle added that, and I always enjoyed the brewery whatever name it ended up being. Stayed at the Belle a lot.

I’ve been in another river adjacent casino and noted a sloping floor ...

That place has been a dump for awhile... Maybe a new place will be dropped in with a real beach....that's what all those places lack. Harrah's wastes a good beach opportunity.

I like Laughlin for a quick get away or day trip
They're all dumps.
We get free rooms at the Edgewater. Not even worth that.
The Belle would be a gold mine if they tore it down and made something really nice

All that support structure was for the rehabilitation after Golden Entertainment bought the Aquarius, Edgewater and the Belle, but all that was put on hold after the plague, not sure if a final decision has been made.

Funny, I’m 36 a as nd started going to Laughlin 35 years ago. I’m currently working on, and staying 3 nights a week at the Riverside. And my wife and I prefer the riverfront rooms at the Pioneer. Only room I know of where you don’t have to walk through a smoke filled casino to get to your room. And you are steps away from jumping in the water (they actually have a beach).
that said, the standard rooms stink.

Funny you say that, every time I’ve walked the river walk at the Pioneer I have told my wife how cool I thought those rooms were. Right there with the lawn in front and a stone's throw from the river. I would always say, we should stay here sometime, but she would just look at me…

We don’t use the river when we go, just head up to the lake and do our boating there. I like to stay as far away from those pesky frickin jet ski bitches as possible.

Sorry, did I say that out loud?

Totally agree. After a day on the lake, before or after dinner, it’s nice to wade into the water though sometimes. Keeps me away further craps table a little longer.
