The winds in the SCV haven’t seemed as bad as the previous week. But the air is friggen dirtier and hazier then Ive seen it in a long time. 🤷

Fingers crosssed this doesn’t stir up a whole new bunch of fire storms. 🙏🤞

Decent winds all day in Riverside but quiet now. I stayed home after the last 2 warnings, but the anticipated winds never happened. We'll see what it looks like in the morning before I head to LA.

Strongest gust at my house since midnight has been 33mph, so far it's a big nothing just like last week

But to be safe. I think they should you off. Wouldn’t want to take any chances and have a fire. I’m mean. You know what I mean. 🤷😜🙄

Luckily Edison pulled their head out of their ass and have set up our grid to only shut off the part that is above ground even though that part has been upgraded to insulated wires, there really is zero reason to turn off any part of our grid now.

For safety reasons the power should never be turned off, in the event of a fire (I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't for 1 sec believe 90%+ of these fires are started by a utility, they are arson) evacuation is more difficult without power.

Blowing hard in Menifee. At least as hard as it has blown this year.

Yes but it was coming off the ocean. Barely notice any N/NE wind at all, if any. Early morning walk at beach had almost zero wind(glassy water) or barely a breeze to hold up the wave. Nice curls that were tubed.

For any north county San Diego members near Bonsall, the Lilac Fire burning along old 395 just south of Hwy76 is @ 80 Acres with a moderate rate of spread.
Due to the proximity and timing of this being the 2nd fire start along Old 395, the Pala Fire being the first shortly after midnight, then this one starting very soon following, it's either intentional arson or somebody with a defective vehicle or dragging a chain. The Pala fire (17 acres) they quickly gained control, this Lilac Fire could get far more ugly. The third fire early this morning was the Riverview fire in Fallbrook, which only grew to approx 1 acre.

This was on Facebook, this poster was properly flogged. The only thing I find useful about FB is the Brushfire Partyline San Diego/North County & Calfire/San Diego.

According to Flightradar 24, the plane surveilling the fire this morning is showing it's exact location.

On another serious note, this new Lilac Fire is a flashback moment for many residents of that area --- 12/7/17, another Lilac Fire, ignited during a similar Santa Ana weather event, turned out real ugly.

Current 7:53AM San Marcos peak-1 camera showing amazing progress by Calfire to wrap this Lilac Fire up. Report from half hour ago stated 10% containment, but this latest cam shot I grabbed shows very little smoke. So clear you can see the plane that's making the loops I posted above,

My sons ex-MIL was affected by that one, didn't lose anything but some stressfull moments getting the horses out. She's a bit east of the Mission/hwy76 movie theater.
.
My golf buddy lost his home in the (rice?) fire that went by Pala Mesa/Reche rd.

That Rice Fire was in Oct 2007, same time as the Witchcreek/Gueijto Fires that took us out. Seemed like all of San Diego was on fire during that horrible period.
Both the Rice Fire and the Witchcreek were blamed on SDG&E.

I was living in San Bernardino and working out our Vista office at my last job when this happened. I was heading south on the 15 the night it started and drove by watching that mobile home park BURN when that fire was ripping down through the San Luis Rey riverbed/wash. Last night had to be a terrible case of DeJaVu for those residents :(

I had no trouble re-adjusting to normal life following my Army stint during the Viet Nam war. Now 17 years after watching our home burn, live on TV, my anxiety level is pinned on the limiter during these damned Santa Ana's.
My normal doc appointment is tomorrow, I'll be lucky if he doesn't call 911 after checking my BP 😳 ;)
So yes, I'm sure any who remained in that park, were feeling seriously stressed early this morning. Thankfully CalFire and SD Fire, did a great job of stopping it 👍👍👍

The Lilac fire in 2017 caused us to pack up. It was a couple of miles from our house when the wind changed direction, and the fire headed directly west going by us. Luckily the winds were not too bad this morning and the fire was taken care of relatively quickly. I also agree that this has to be arson when you have multiple fires starting in different locations at the same time.

Edit: This is from our property in 2017 when it was burning towards us.

Wind has been ripping north through our shop area in Temecula for an hour now. Praying for no new starts in the next 24!
