Now that the boating season is over for us, it's time to work on the house. Since we bought the place in '08 we have wanted to get rid of the nasty carpet upstairs and install wood floors. Well, nice laminate actually. I just finished the last of the floors and the stairs. All I need to do now is some nice 5" baseboards to match the ones I installed downstairs. Not too bad of a project, although I had some bad luck with tools. I decided to use a "Floor Boar" to cut my pieces, because I didnt want the dust of a miter saw, nor did I want to run up and down stairs all day long. This thing is the biggest piece of crap. I finished the job on the third one. The ratchet kept breaking. Home Cheapo was good about replacing it luckily.

Thanks. yup 12.3mm, hand scraped Antique Walnut

haha....yep same stuff.

It looks awesome and we used a good moisture barrier with upgraded padding. Feels great and it isn't an echo chamber like it was when we had tile.

I was going to do the install my self but I found a guy that was so resonable for everything I decided to let him handle it.

Looks good, also looks like you have bullnose walls. You may want to look into the radius outside corners that are the same profile as your baseboard. If you want to go that route shoot me a pm and ill give you a few pointers for a flawless installation:)

Floor looks good, make sure therer is enough space for expansion along the walls or else the floor will "buckle". I have installed floors for 6+ years and in several multi-million dollar homes. I have a few critiques about the work but as long as you are happy then that is all that matters.

I will try to post some work that I have done.

This floor will last you a long time, I hope the salesman didn't push the 12mm on you too hard because the 6mm will last just as long.

I hate carpet as well. My house is all hardwood and and little bit of tile. Very nice upgrade right there! :thumbsup

12mm was my choice. Since its upstairs, and our master is down stairs, I didn't want it to echo and sound as hollow as the thinner stuff does.
There's not a lot I can't do. This was my first attempt at wood flooring, what critiques do you have?

I agree with the choice on 12mm to help reduce echo. Did you use the green pad for the floor?

The only critiques that I have is where some of the joints match up, I stagger joints a min. of 12". This way you can't look across the room and see the joints match up on every other or every third plank.

Everything looks really good, at least you undercut the doors frame, I have seen installers "attempt" to run molding or caulking because they didn't have the knowledge or tools.

Give me a few moments to upload some pics.

lets see if this shows up, this was taken with a phone so the quality isn't there.

This is a glue down, every plank was cut perfectly tight the the stairs. This method takes about 12 hours with two people to finish a staircase.

the stairs took about 2 days. I hate to admit it but after measuring the top 4 steps I assumed that they were all the same width. Nope.:bash:, So i wasted a bunch of time cutting, and then having to recut 8 steps. but it turned out nice. way better than the carpet stairs. Probably going to install a custom runner. I have still yet to do the base boards, got busy and forgot about them. but they will be done next week. I have already done all 6" base downstairs with the bullnose corners, so at least I have done part of this job already.

When the previous owner did the tile on the main floor, the dumbass didnt use a single spacer,(and it shows) and didnt remove any of the moulding. so every peice of base and door trip has tile surrounding it.:grumble: Trying to make my work look better. But its not that hard. haha

Stairs are a huge pain and can get the better of anybody. I have spent three days on a spiral staircase before because my OCD wouldn't allow for anything other than perfect cuts.

I HATE tile, with a passion. I can deal with somebody not using a spacer for the grout lines but when somebody can't use a pop line and lets the tile wonder through the living room, then it annoys me.

TLC flooring, ask for Ramin, Hacienda/ Decatur. Ip aid $1.69ft for $3ft floor. I actually ended up going to Outcole'd's recommendation(forgetting he has a hookup) Superior Moulding, for my baseboards. I got 5" tall for $.56ft. smokin deal.
