Well at least you should know the hex size, looks to be .733 which would be close enough for a 3/4 socket.

If it’s not digital not many young mechanics can even read it. I handed a young engineer a dial caliper and he asked for a digital so he could read it

I have a digital set of calipers but my go to is my vernier calipers. Batteries never go dead in that one

Being a younger engineer myself this is just sad. This really worries me about the future engineers that will be coming into industry.

I volunteered as a mentor for FIRST robotics, and had a NASA engineer give me measurements to the ten thousandth to drill with a 3" holesaw... I had him do it, and he was able to understand the humor.
