Looking to buy a older VW Bug. Would like a semi project (runnning) or one that is done right and not priced out of the universe.
Recently sold my mini that I restored and now am regretting it.
I was made an offer I couldn't refuse.

Very nice mini.
I keep thinking of selling my mini panel van, I never drive it.

I sold the Mini for 35K.
Like I said, it was an offer I couldn't refuse.
But, I did a great deal of work to engine (John Cooper Works upgrade), suspension, brakes, exhaust and on and on.
Body was original, not a scratch on it and not a sign of rust.
The buyer just lost 4 vintage minis in Northern California fires and was looking for the perfectly done mini.
I made money on it but am regretting it.
I've restored and have bought (and sold) most of the popular vintage era cars, American and European, but this one was a blast to drive and regret selling it now.
Soooo, I'm looking for something that might be fun.
Last on my list is Bug and Alfa Romeo late 60's, early 70's GTV.

I'm assuming you're already on thesamba.com? I would also agree, 67' and older are the best, but the 69 will get you IRS, which is really nice to have. Anything above a 67' should be saved for the off-road guys to chop up into Bajas or build Class 11 cars out of. 67' and older should be saved for the Cal Look folks. I happen to have all 3 versions.

Where are you located? I'm always running across VW's I'd like to own or start a project on, but I'm outta room.

I am either at one of two places. Lake Tahoe or San Francisco Bay Area.

I have a 69 convertible that we've been thinking about selling to buy a bus. It's got a 1700 in there and runs strong. Interior and top are in perfect shape. Always garaged. It's got a little rust on the back but overall it's really nice.

Not for sale..
my friends Guys bug in Hawaii. First pic is circa ‘85. Second pic is just two years ago. Car was featured in Hot VW’s. I helped my Uncle do all body mods (semaphores) and paint the car triple candy apple red in the carport. Floor pans all painted candy too.
Older VW the better. IMO.

It's not for sale, Believe it or not, my 71 year old Mom owns it now. She has had VW's forever as well as me, and told me I could never sell this one, so its in her garage now. If you're wondering price ranges, I would have been asking probably $15K for that car if I was selling it today.

I get it, my dad and I did some nice cars in the late 70s early 80s. Brother worked at Jonny’s speed and chrome and I spent days and hours drooling at Small Car specialties on Ball Rd in Anaheim. My dad has done 3 Buses a Bug and a VW thing since living in Havasu. They are just fun cars.

My buddies dad is selling this. His ad said 67 but then pic w/description said 68. Don't know anything about bugs but can ask for clarification if you'd like.

Interested to know what the year it is.
Looks perfect for a project and driving while planning.
Thanks.
The tail lights, and front fenders tell me it’s a 67.... it’s been years and I could be wrong, but I think the hub caps are only wide 5 as well which is a dead giveaway it’s not a 68 or later unless converted to wide 5. 68 also had a dash pad.

Definitely a 67', A couple things that pop out, the rear fenders and front apron have been filled where the upper bumper guards would have gone thru to attach to the apron, the wind wings have been removed and once piece windows installed, to switch this back is a pain in the ass, as the bracket for the wind wing has been cut out.

What is your budget? You can PM if you want.
