Friends with last years X3 all blew belts at 600 to 700 miles.
Our 2018 is a more robust belt and supposed to last longer.
Book says 1500 to 2000 miles or sooner with tough service. That’s me.
Easy to change. $170 for a new belt.
OEM belts rumored to be easier cleanup when they puke but don’t last as long as after market belts that are messy clean up when they tap out.
When belts grenade it can be a shredded, melted hot mess and changing it in the field can be a hassle.
So what the hey, do it in camp.
Oil changes are a mess. You have a 3”x1” oval access through the skid plate to reach the drain plugs.
Ya use a paper towel tube and stick your socket wrench up threw that and hopefully most the oil drains down it.
1” rivits holding the skid plate are a MFSOB to remove and replace.
Dealers all wanted $1300 for a service w/ belt change out. I did it all for $220 in parts.
