The seal won’t seat without the Thrust washer:

A few of us have that nagging water pump leak.
Dealer and Can Ams response is “it’s not that bad, don’t worry about it.”

I’m concerned about it.
Reported at 5000 miles it goes from a drip to a pint of coolant loss per 500 miles.

Somethin’ Sinister on the Can Am forums was cool and responded to my thread and posted what he found.
The leaky water pumps on X3s are missing the seal thrust washer.

The thrush washer pulls the spring pressured seal in to seat.

If the dealer mechanic is just a parts changer they’ll miss it.
Bert’s missed mine. X3 came out in worse condition than it went in.

Its tricky.
Plus if you don’t que the assembly just tits you’ll get an oil leak. Lots of oil.

Not unusual for these Frustrating mulligans to eventually be solved by a rancher or farmer across the USA that’s handy with a wrench.

I have the extended warranty plus our local dealer feels Can Am should pick up the cost so we’ll see how it rolls.

It got ugly at Berts not over the issue it was they kept the X3 for two months going well into three. Even got a call from Ron. An angry call but I was brilliant, I had the paper trail and the truth to back me up.

Seat belts turned colors it sat in their lot so long.
If all the warranties baulk Ill just pay for it.
If that fails Ill fix it myself.

Crossing my fingers for you.

This is why I buy them used LOL. I just go straight to the fixing it myself part if something takes a crap. At least these turds are pretty easy to work on... had reasonably good luck so far.
