Looking for any input please.
I have a 2012 Conquest Boss Cat (open bow/mid cuddy/2 step cat hull - not one of the more common top cat models). Running a 8.2L/502 catalyzed. Merc says full throttle RPM is 4600-5000. Merc Bravo x drive with a 1.5 gear ratio. I had the Merc Bravo 24" pitch/4 blade prop and topped out about 73 mph. I liked the prop but blades cracked on me twice (merc wouldnt warranty)... So on advice, looking for a good "all around" prop I switched to a 5 blade, 21" pitch, 14" diameter. I think the boat is under propped now as I've lost about 10 mph on the top end, and Im reaching max RPM with about 1/4 of my throttle left. planing and midrange is great tho.
Since I know NOTHING about props, any suggestions on a good all around prop for this style boat? I knew I would lose some top end with the 5 blade, but 10 mph off while hitting top RPM seems a little extreme.
Thanks in advance for any input.
