Went riding constantly, growing,up. Shared, bikes with cousins and brothers until I was about 5 or 6 I believe when I got my,first "big boy" dirt bike, it was a '83 Honda CR60. Only made them for 2 years. Thing put 50's to shame! My dad sold it after my youngest brother outgrew it. Right before the Pit bike craze. Woulda brought big money during that time had he kept it.

1978 Cam-Am 125cc. Had so much fun on that thing. Learned real quick on the proper size of spark plugs after putting a hole in the piston. Lol

Man I wanted one of those so bad a couple years before that!
Those, the CZ’s, Maico’s, and Huskys were bad ass!

1982 Honda XL100. When I outgrew that my dad had bought Honda Fat Cats and I rode that till I went off to school. Great bike for running dry river beds in Utah.

First bike was Briggs and Stratton mini bike ankle biter, my friend riding it on the right in the photo. Then the coveted 1979 yz 80 , me on the left. Photo taken at Indian Dunes 1980. Man how I wish I had that bike and helmet today!

1973 Yamaha GT80. I still have a mjor soft spot for them, or really any 70's Yamaha DT. Last weekend at Road America I saw these lined up, and got just as excited as I was about the race cars.

View attachment 671685 My Mom let me buy this when I was 16. What in the hell was she thinking, lol. I loved that little bike. It has a piece of my heart!

I’m a huge fan of the small SOCH fours!!!

Have 4 of them in the current collection. A 73 350, then 3 400’s 75/76/77.

The 76 & 400’s here... The 76 is a twin to yours except with dealer installed ( When new) 77 bars.

It led to a real problem....Now there is a service honda/AF in the hallway, a bultaco astro in my bedroom, and a bunch of others fighting the boat for real estate in the garage.

When I somehow managed to figure out what my dad was talking about what a powerband, watch out.

I was forever hooked on motorsports.

I had 2 mini bikes, but my first real motorcycle was a IT 175 Yamaha. In 1980 I flew it 75’ to the bottom of a witches tit at glamis, broke my back, and cracked my skull from ear hole to eye socket. The Yamaha put the front tire/ forks through the engine” indo” broke the case.
Fun times

So many cool bikes here!

After that SL70 and a few years off riding, I jumped up to a 1986 YZ250. I rode that bike hard for many years. Loved it and had a massive mid-range hit.

Then got a YZ400 4 stroke. Great bike and suspension. But never did prefer the 4 stroke to the 2 stroke.

Now considering buying a new Suzuki DR650 for tooling around on RV trips and light off road tour type riding.

I guess I was the odd ball, I first started riding ATC's at a young age. My first ATC was a Suzuki LT 125 ATC. It was a big turd with balloon tires but it was mine and i had a blast riding it. I remember riding that thing from sun up to sun down only stopping for gas and a quick lunch.

I had a Taco as well and then a Penton 125. The sachs engine had a lot of issues shifting, but they were the bike to have. Wish I still had them both today! Still have my dads 71 Husqvarna 400 cross sitting in my garage.

1977 XR 75, still have it

Exact same year & bike I had. At the time after I learned how to ride I thought it sucked because my friends had new CR 80’s and 125’s. My bike was old school fonzi style. :D I sold it to buy an Emmick kart then won two championships. I was never that good on a bike but always loved the feeling you get when you ride one.

The day my dad bought me the MR50 he bought himself an Elsinore... Sold it when I was big enough to start ridding it as he figured I would kill myself (Was probably correct). I am always on the lookout for one to add to the stable.

Your Dad knew!! lol! At the time the only thing I could do with it half way decently was go balls to wall in a straight line.
They sucked to kick start, I gave up trying so I use to run as fast as I could and try to hop start it in 2nd gear.
Sometimes it worked and would fire right up and other times the back tire would just locked up. It wore me out.

I hope you find one!

My first was a Honda MR50. I'd love to own one just to have. That little bike started a lifetime of memories for me growing up and shaped who I am. To this day the closest friends I have I grew up riding with.

(not my bike)

Learned to ride at about 5 on my cousin's z50. At 11 I got Grandma's 1970 CT70 after she crashed it. My brother got 1974 KX125, then we moved up to the RM. Found out what suspension actually felt like. Bought a 1985 XR250 in 1993 and kept it for almost twenty years. Sold it for same price I paid. Sold my XR400 a year ago. Rode a bunch of miles on that bike up and around Silverwood/Arrowhead. It had giddy-up umph. I'm partial to the XR; air-cooled, great compression braking.
