...Easy to get at... ...If I recall right the life expectancy of a generator wasn't all that long... ...When I bought my Hallett,...it still had a generator running off the driveshaft... ...Now it has an alternator running off the driveshaft...:D

12' Jon boat with 9.5 Evinrude. Learned what trim and mounting height could do early on.:)
When I moved to AZ I had the good fortune of working in Parker and bought a used Glastron CVX 16 with a 115 Johnson. Incidentally that was my only time on the Parker stretch of the river as we traveled up to the lake every other weekend and slept in the boat. There were some brutally hot days and nights to camp.
Did spend plenty of time at the Parker Strip bars though.:D

Late 70's Galaxie tri-hull.... 19' I think... Too long ago... Lol!! Metallic gold with a 302 ford. Brother and I hacked in through hull exhaust, and put a cam in it.. Thought we were the baddest mofo's at crazy horse..

87 19' commander closed bow. 468 BBC with berk split bowl. Boat was awesome and I was only 19 years old. I can't find pics on this computer.

I honestly can't remember not going to the river. My parents have always had a place there. Grew up with my Dad's many v-drives and jets. My old man has been going to the river since the late 50's early 60's.

I bought it used for $4,000 two years old and sold it 6 years later for 4,000. Great reliable boat.

79 cheetah open bow with a small block and alpha 1 (converted jet I think).

No rev limiter, cost me 3 motors before I found that wire!

first boat was a rocking 1989 searay 180br with a 135mercury on it...i bought that right after my multipage post about halletts and howards and such.
i couldn't find what i wanted and was leaving for lake powell so i bought it for 4000 sold it the next season for 4600
002-5.jpg

004-4.jpg

then i bought my cole.
491569a7.jpg

9ee8c346.jpg

i grew up on boats and the first i remember was a glastron with a 140 evinrude on the back, the pops got a 21 cheetah with a 225 merc. and finally a 23 cheetah ...don london actually built the 2 motors for it. that was the best...getting to use the boat whenever with the only concern was cleaning it and keeping it fueled up.
when my dear ol' pappy passed my brother in olkahoma got the boat and that is when i learned the real cost of boat ownership...still love being out on the lake. that and on my bike cutting a trail through the desert is the greatest feeling of freedom for me.

also the thing to notice in these pics is that the kids have the same looks of excitement on any boat...kinda makes you realize that the brand isn't as important as being in the game.

My current boat is my first.. 1978 Sanger SuperJet. 460/jet i bought it from the origional owner. When I bought it I redid the interior and made sure it ran. Took it out three times and proceeded to tear it apart and cap the hull. Now it has a new motor, headers, and newer gel. The only thing that has not been redone is the gauges/wiring(soon to come)

iphone pictures 185.jpg My first boat was a 1988 Carrera Elite, chevy 454, closed bow, holley carb, berkeley jet... great boat. I miss it but needed to get something bigger due to a growing family. Now have a 24 ft. Ultra open bow, walkthrough which is fantastic.

Well... This is my first boat I purchased. 2007 LaveyCraft 21' XTSki, 6.2 Merc, Bravo 1, Open Bow... I love this boat!

When I was a kid (maybe 8 - 12) my uncle would take me on trips to some lake and we would knee board, the adults would ski... It was so much fun. Then life got in the way and I stopped boating for many years. Around 3 years ago, my wifes parents bought a boat and then 2 years ago a house in Havasu. His boat is a 2002 Nordic 24' Rage I believe... It's a great boat, does 72 with a 496 Mag. Wife comes from a large family and we are starting our own family + my family + all our friends, so it was getting a little crowded on one boat. We decided last year it was time for us to buy a boat...

that is on my list for next boat.;)very nice, what does it run with the 6.2 i hear they are quick hulls. howard, hallett, nordic, essex, and lavey craft in a 21-24 but can't decide which...i guess when i'm ready it will come down to which is available. i like the idea of a little more freeboard.

how does it ride compared to the 24 rage?

First boat I purchased was in 2005 and it was a 2004 22' Bayliner with a 350MPI and sold it in 2007 for what I paid for it 1 week before I took delivery of the Ultra.

Two years to the day I purchased my first I took delivery of my second boat which is the 2007 Ultra.

Family always had boats and in the 70's we spend a good deal of time with friends "at the river". Dad got our first "river" boat a 22 Schiada Day Cruiser that we ran mostly on Havasu and Shasta. I had the bug and after college I bought a 76 Hallett 20' mini cruiser. Spent the last 24 years having fun with that boat, and am currently having it reborn again at BJ's.

Currently spend more time in the 91 Howard 22' offshore, the ride is amazing and it scoots right along, but I am looking forward to seeing how the Hallett reacts to a bit more power and a fresh pump after all these years.

Maybe someday i will get a current decade boat, but what can i say, I like classics and tinkering.

'71 Hondo flat. Bought it from a family friend and re did everything mechanical. It sat in his garage for 20 years befor I drug it home, still had '86 registration stickers on it! First trip was to Parker and now its in Blythe. Dad got me into boating in his '73 Samger flat that I grew up in. We take both of them out every year for fathers day and usually a week in October.

My dad has owned at least one boat for as long as I can remember. I think he's up in the 60's as to how many he's owned at this point. My earliest memory in life is standing between his legs driving a boat.

Bought my first boat back in 2002. Still have it as well. '92 STV Pro Comp Ski. Originally had a Merc 2.4 Bridgeport EFI, but has since been upgraded to a 2.5/260hp. Seen 112 on GPS in Havasu.

Mine was a 1977 Tahiti Jet Bote with a 454 and a panther jet. That Panther was a POS.

I traded that for a 79 Bahner Jet Bote with a 454 and a Berkeley.

I was 19 YO so I didn't know any better.

Good times for sho!!:thumbup::drnkfr

Early 70's Eliminator jet boat. Looked just like the one Pink Taco just picked up but mine was red. Had a 455 olds and Berkeley. Fun boat when it ran. I bought if from my brother with a blown up motor. I rebuilt it and used it for a couple years and got rid of it.

Nice boat, but what's up with the jet bote headers? :D

Lol. Those were dry headers, no baffles. Jet bote nancys don't have the balls to run dry without baffles.

I did later swap em out for some chrome water injected bassets, no baffles ofcourse!!!

Cool Thread!!

My first boat was a 14' fiberglass something-er-other with a 50 horse Johnson.... I was 16 and super stoked to have anything that floated since my family never had boats and I had the fever. I took it apart and sanded it down and regelled it and got the motor running. Took it out to Pleasant for it's maiden and had a feeling of freedom I'd never experienced... right until the lower unit fell off in the middle of the lake :D

That's the boat in the background...

Before picture.jpg

After college I was less of a hillbilly and was able to save up to buy my first real boat... I searched high and low for about a year looking for that unique, clean first boat. Finally I got a call from a buddy who owned AZ Discount Marine in Tucson and he told me he found me a boat but he wasn't sure about the color... :D

That was 2001 and she's been causing fun ever since... 1987 Eliminator Comp Ski

Then the Taco came down with a case of the rots and had to sit out a season...
That's when I picked up the Brown Trout... 1985 Sleekcraft Junior Exec

And now I'm looking to rebuild the Taco so I picked up Blue Balls... 1994 Eliminator Formula 19'

My first boat (that I owned) was a 1962 BuckSmith flatbottom with a 327 Chevy and a 2-speed power glide. It was named "Oldie But Goodie". My dad got me into boating early in life with a 1972 Wreidt Maverick jet boat with a 455.

My first... 1983 Bahner with a 200HP Merc. Bought it from the original owner in 2002 who claimed it was one of the Bahner display boats at the LA Boat show that year? Sold it 6 months later for a $100 more than I paid for it :)

In 1974, at the age of 18, I bought a 1970 Weiman 16.5' with a 115HP Evinrude on it. Ran it for years then gave it to my brother-in-law.

It will ride nicer then a 25 Rage, but it's not as big of a boat, nor as fast. The deeper Vee helps a lot..

This was the first thing I bought after the my divorce.

Welcome to the board! That chick is smoking hot in the drivers seat.
