I've seen 3 or 4 videos with issues on the new model.

Over priced and glorified, and bad mpg.
American makers have trucks figured out x100. Great cars but I have never been impressed with Toyotas trucks.

My 03 sequoia (suv tundra) runs awesome at almost 200k miles.

Gas guzzler for sure.

But I’m the idiot that was driving a Prius with Trump in office and the sequoia now, lol…

I digress, I don’t love the new one either.

I've got two buddies that manage service departments at different dealers. Both are saying they have seen noticeable quality control issues with several models produced during Covid.

I did buy a first year, which I wouldn't usually recommend, but my 07 has been flawless. Its pristine and just turned 67,000, it might be for sale, first bid over $30,000.😂🤣😂.

NEVER buy the first year. NEVER.
My entire life I heard my dad tell me this, finally in 2019 I bought a new silverado half ton, figured the l quality issues would have been worked out.

A year an a half later, I had quite the repair history on that turd. Headliner replaced due rear window leak, ECU reflash on 3 separate occasions, 1 torque converter replacement and 2 valve bodies. I finally was soooo pissed off I sent it on down the road, and this was all within 21k miles.

Guess I should have listened to the old goats who know a little more then us youngsters

Why? I bought a first year and the truck still runs great.
Because there is a higher likelihood of failure or QC issues. Toyota is usually pretty good when it comes to this because of their long development cycles and lack of innovation, but clearly not immune.

17-18 on the hwy with no headwind, 13-14 around town, around 8-9 towing my 5,000 lb . boat and trailer.
I get about the same with my TRD supercharged 2012 crewmax. Went to Monterey with it and got a high of 18.5 doing 80mph the entire trip.

I have a 2017 & 2021 Tundra, 1794 model, 4x4 , and I get about the same gas mileage.
That’s not the 2022 Tundra? That’s what I got with my 2014 crewmax 4x4

That's what I thought the question was about, the old style. I guess the new V6 is supposed to get around 22 on the road.

I can get 17-18 from Havasu to the IE @ 75 using cruise, any head wind or traffic problems that goes out the window. Driving to locations with more grades will also drop the milage. I can drive from Havasu to Parker and get over 20, but It's 17-18 by the time I get home.😅

I must be pulling a grade with headwind every time I drive

To be totally honest, I have to really try to get good milage, by using cruise and easy on the throttle, it's real easy to just say screw it and lose a couple miles per gallon. I will say some of the newer American trucks aren't always getting what they claim either, although still a few miles per gallon better.

Full disclosure, I do have an aftermarket muffler( still single) a Volant air intake and a fiberglass cover, but never was able to really discern any milage improvement with those changes, even heard the cover could be a negative, but maybe they are making some small improvement.🤷‍♂️

The biggest issue, however, concerns the 3.4-liter engine advertised with 3.5 liters. Dubbed V35A-FTS, the force-fed sixer features a turbo wastegate actuator that’s not functioning properly. It’s not clear if we’re dealing with a mechanical or software-based issue, but in any case, there are plenty of reports alleging failing wastegates. Toyota Headquarters moderator MG recently posted a few pictures of a cab separated from the chassis in order to fix the wastegates, which is a gargantuan task for such a small problem.

That's the most popular full size truck in American right now ?????? I feel like that's a subject worth arguing, it's butt ugly in pictures and I've yet to even see one in the wild. Is it the most popular only because it's the only one being shipped due to Vid-and-Chips ?

I‘m thinking the complexity of computer chips, computer sensors, epa bullshit, turbos etc all in search of a few more mpg is not always a great trade off. You have to separate the chassis to get to the waste gate? - brilliant! What else is back there that can’t be serviced without a cab removal?

I’m thinking a 2021 Tundra with the good ole 16 MPG might be the way to go.

I’ve got a 5.7 crew max 4x. In over 10 years, on its best day, I have yet to see 16 mpg in any condition..

Great truck none the less.

Hope your Godzilla gets better mpg than mine. 2021 F350 srw w/ 4.30's is getting single digit fuel economy with 10k on the motor so far. Love the truck, don't regret not getting diesel, but gotta be honest I was hoping to see fuel economy in the low teens. Truck is set up with a service body and weighs about 8500lbs

I know it’s going to suck. But I drive very little. The truck it’s replacing had 13,000 miles after 3yrs.
