I ordered a new work truck back in early March of 2022. it was early in the order window for the new interior redesign for GM on their half ton trucks.

March 3, 2022 was the date of order. I placed two orders that day. One, a new 2022 Chevy 1500 for me as a work truck, the other a new 2022 Chevy 2500 that would be my brothers work truck.

The 2500 HD was relatively basic, crew cab, with the standard 6.6 gasser. Not a lot of frills—bench seat, standard box, cloth interior. Simple. Delivery date on that one was late July 22.

Mine was a little more dressed. Chevy Silverado 1500 LTZ package with leather seats, a couple up level adds, and I replaced the standard 5.3L gas engine with the 3.0L I6 turbo diesel motor. Seemed simple enough. Fast forward. Truck ordered March 3, 22. Built in Fort Wayne IN on August 11, 22. Finally delivered to a central Cheeseland dealer on January 23, 23.

if it hadn’t been for a couple specific adds, including color and engine, I would have cancel the whole deal and bought a different one months ago. Even went to look at a couple only to have them sold before I got there.

Today, I have 450 miles on it, towed my 23ft snowmobile trailer last weekend up north like it wasn’t there, and I had a professional detailed diamond coat and rustproof it right away.

So far I’m getting a solid 22 mpg and I got 14-15 pulling the sleds. As the weather warms and I get some distance without pulling, it looks to be capable of 26-28 plus. Major upgrade from the 12-14 I got with my 15 and the 5.3L with the 4 cylinder dropout crap I had.

I like how the diesel is tucked under the front end, if not for the Duramax logo on the hood, you would never know- VERY NICE!!

So is it a 2022 or 2023 model?

From what I’m hearing, I am fortunate that it’s a 22. The 23’s are supposedly affected by some emissions crap that affects fuel economy more so than the 22’s

Same thing. I’ve heard the retailer call it diamond or ceramic coating.

3500 miles so far, and I’ve towed trailers for a few hundred miles of that, I’m running at 20.7 mpg for the life of the vehicle. Short range average with lots of 70 mph highway miles I’m in the high 20’s to low 30’s. This truck has tons of power, super comfy and I really like how it handles. Will never own another 5.3 gasser. My last one was averaging 14.5 in 75000 miles

The DEF usage so far looks really good. 3500 miles and the gauge is still reading half full. I’m gonna guess something between 5500 and 6500 miles per tankful. Rather not have to use the stuff at all, but considering big brother won’t let us live our lives without regulation, I don’t think that is too bad.

And the ceramic coating is amazing. The two plus months of driving in Cheeseland winter/spring and the water droplets still bead up and run off like it was waxed this morning.

Got the same truck in white. 2022 with the baby max. I actually had one in late 2020 and sold it for more than I paid. I missed it so much , I bought another in January. Just hit 4k miles and average about 20 towing and 25 to 27 around town. Best I've seen is 32.5 mpg so far. These are really great trucks and cant beet the milage.
