Be honest, what's your top speed on smooth water with operator and one passenger?

I'd agree, both of my boats are above 70, but nowhere near 80.

Been years since either got wet...one was a deck, blazing 35mph. The jet was 69mph, on glass...no matter what I couldn't break 70.

The good thing, if it ever gets wet again, it will be with a fresh motor, and more of it.

my eyes are watering at about 60 so no need to go much past that.

Twin 1200s help a little.

I haven't actually done it, so I can't claim it, but with the amount of throttle and RPM I had left at 115, it seemed like 135 was definitely possible. I can only spin big blocks so fast before I start cringing. If I could bring myself to spend $12-$15K on a set of props with a larger pitch and larger diameter, I might give it a shot. 115 was plenty fast though.

I've heard that certain big boats have a speed advantage because it spreads the weight out over a larger distance, which helps get them out of the water and not "sink" in as much. Not sure how true that is, but kind of makes sense, I guess.

… My 1963 Hallett Flatty with a 406 tri power Ford in it was 70 miles an hour… And then the driveshaft let go and water started coming in the bottom of the boat😳

… My 1975 Sanger Circle Runner with an LS seven big block Chevy… mid 90s…

… My 1974 Omega 21 foot jet day cruiser with a 455 Olds…46 miles an hour👍

… My 1976 Spectra 24 with a big block Chevy… I have no idea… have never had it in the water🤷🏽‍♀️…

… Adding them together plus an estimated 55 miles an hour on the Spectra… I come up with 261 miles an hour👍…

Haven't even tried to do a speed run since the rebuild. I am thinking it's easily in the high 70's, maybe low 80's depending on the conditions/load. I also run a 24 B1 bt could easily spin a 26.

I think I hit it trying to catch the gang on the Damn Dam run before we put the top up.

I need one of those fancy helicopter pictures of it.

I can say when I looked behind us when we hit the river and I saw your boat trimmed up you were on the gas.

43 mph. After 20 years of offshore boating we have returned to small boating. Our $600.00 weekend fill up turned into $35.00. Still spend the same amount of time on the lake. Traded the speed and distance to quality time and putzing around.

I’m closer to 70 years old than 60. I see this in my not too distant future as well.

Edit: fill up last weekend was $1,000..

Had a great afternoon with a friend and hit 73ish running up lake near Steamboat. Not sure on the max RPM so that kind make me hesitate going further. 🤷‍♂️ Running a 24 and wanting to try a 26 to see if that number could be improved. One of my hopes is to one day get over 100mph. Sadly it probably will never be in a boat that I own so I might need a little help from a RDP member to make that happen. 🤪😁

I have had my 22 Daytona up tp 93 mph With my new motor. Has more left, but wife wasn’t to happy so I stopped. And I didn’t like the way it was porpoising . Not bad, but couldn’t seem seem to drive out of it.
