When you buy new tires, check the date code on them. I just bought "new" Yokohama tires for my truck from Discount tire, went back 3 times to have them balanced. Then I looked at the date code, they were 3 years old! Manager is ordering me a new set of tires after I pointed it out.

I do my steer tires every two years. I survived a front blowout, don’t want to press my luck with another.

Oh man I be that was scary.
Yeah I remember when Walt told me to google it and I was like oh shit!!!

2018 date code?
Those babies should be in a tire barrier at a race track, not on your trailer!

Anymore it seems 5 years regardless of miles is when you need to go shopping for new.

I just looked at the tires on my truck yesterday. 2018 date code. Probably 30% tread remaining.

😭😭😭

Go see Tires by Mark, you can have them pull the tires and check the date but he goes through them so fast because of his pricing that the tires will be a couple months old or less

Is New Mexico bad luck for tires on here as well? I remember on pirate4x4 it was a very big superstition.

He did say RV tires, not trailer. According to Michelin their rv tires should be inspected every year after 5 years and replaced regardless after 10. I have 1 on the rear that is 8yrs the rest are 5 to seven, not a crack on any of them and they are not as good a brand as Michelin. My rv is in a carport and parked on ply wood. If they are in the sun, life will be shorter. I’ll be replacing the oldest 2 before next trip new ones always on the front. I’d have to sell the rv if I put tires on every 2 years, $2000-3800 depending on brand, and are only 19.5s.

Hey @Jefftowz was going to reach out for a visit in a couple of weeks. But now that i see the condition of your rig concerned with staying in it even if it is sitting on your driveway. 😝

Even if you don’t see cracks if they’re sitting for months at a time on the same spot it will break down from the inside and you’ll never see the damage until it’s to late.

I have 6 perfect tires I just took off about 2 months ago that were about 5 years old. Simple cheap insurance.

Just ordered 6 tires for our RV, ours are just over 5 years old but after having a rear blow out in our last RV and a 8" piece of rubber flying thru the bottom of a cabinet I'm not risking it. The person we bought it from put Ironmans on it and I'm going to go with the same, price is right and they still look new after all these years, RV's you time out before wearing out..

You install over there? Last time I went to Tucker but they bring in an outside who does their big tires. You’re just as far as they are.

Linninger & short in Ontario does r.v. tires on site while you wait with an appointment.

What did it say when it talked to you? Boom?
I felt a vibration. I looked them over pretty good but did not see any issues. I was towing the boat when it went Boom.
They put a whole new side on the truck bed, new wheel, new bumper, etc.

Tire’s had less than 20k miles. Not a fan of the OEM Goodyears.

If you're a member of Pirate4x4 you just don't drive through NM unless you want to break down lol

My sister in law drove around it this trip because she always blows one there? This is the first im hearing it's an issue. I just figured it was her lack of maintance and the added weight to the front driver side tire.

If you’re in Temecula I would give Best for Less Tire a try. They are really knowledgeable and would get you whatever price point brand you want. Prices are very reasonable and service is quick.
