Anyone ever have this? F@$K this hurts. Of course I did not help it out any by insisting on doing yard work this morning. I would go get an ice pack if I wasn't afraid to get off the couch LOL.

Got it just by doing some extra walking yesterday. Getting old sucks.

I had outpatient surgery and they corrected my issue. I suffered for nearly a year, before having this done. My biggest regret was the bi weekly foot doctors milking this easily corrected issue.

I had it a while back…BAD! Tried the water bottle, temporary relief. Tried the stretching exercises I found online, helped a little. One day I was building a shed and stepped on a pile of boards that gave way and hyper-extended my foot. I though I was gong to pass out from the pain. From that day forward it got MUCH better each day! Pain was gone in just a couple of days. DIIK!

Took me out of action for several months. Right foot was the first to go. Couldn’t even drive because the pressure of the foot on the pedal was unbearable after only a few miles.
Then since I was favoring my left foot so much when walking I ended up pinching a nerve in my back . Just about the time that the right foot and my back was getting to a point of being tolerable my left foot had a blowout.
The best thing you can do is to get the fascia stretched out. Sit and bend your foot upwards so that it stretches the fascia and Achilles tendon. It will hurt when you first start doing this but it’s really the only way to get past it. At this point I am constantly stretching, I can sit in the recliner and bend my feet so far up that my toes are pointing at my nose. No more pain.

Had it,beat it...
Sports doctor at MMA gym(Jackson/Wink)got me on the path.
Stretch,stretch and stretch...then stretch more.

Get one of those stretching straps. You can use a towel, but the straps are better and easier to use.

Stretching in general, has become so important for me as I got to my late 40’s and now into my 50’s. I feel and sleep better when i stretch. A lot of my sore joint pain is relieved with stretching.

I had it, went to a podiatrist. He had some special inserts (about $50 a pair). Worked great, that, a ton of stretches and rolling on the frozen water bottle like said, and a cortisone shot and I'm back to my normal 85%...

My son and I both went through it. High arch shoes and flip flops( archies) after a some stretching and no problems ever since.

I had it for 4-5 months, had some orthotics made for my shows, and always had a golf ball on my shower matt so i would remember to roll it every time i went into bathroom.
This...all the exercise and focusing on reducing inflamation helps...but my biggest change was the introduction of orthotics...took several months but eventually it went away and now don't really require the orthotics.

I had a mild case of it that hurt anytime I was running or walking a lot. Tried a bunch of the other things suggested here, but what ultimately worked is going to a running store of having them scan my feet, then got the proper insoles and shoes. Haven’t had a problem since and I run every day.

I suffered for over a year. Podiatrist in Havasu made it worse. My podiatrist at home got me on the right track. Cause? Old shoes. I was being cheap and let both my Olukai flip-flops and everyday running shoes go too long. I'm not a runner, but I do walk a lot, at least I did before the plantar issues.

Quality insoles with a good arch, good quality shoes (throw your vans or converse away). Buy several pairs of the insoles if they are not custom and put them in every shoe you wear. Frozen water bottle while you're seated. Turmeric + ibuprophen or similar. Controlling the inflammation will help. Stretch those calves every single day, several times a day. Stretch before you get out of bed in the morning.

We like the SuperFeet High Arch insoles, but I'm sure there are others that are fine also.

I'm sorry you're going through this. It's terrible pain and a long recovery.

I suffered for years and what finally helped was realizing that super cushioned insole shoes were the cause. I now make sure that the shoes I buy have firm insoles. My doctor had me go bare foot as much as I could and wear solid sole flipflops (leather or rubber, no foam). This is all to keep the tendons stretched out.

Foot Joy (yeah, the golf shoe manufacturer) shoes are the best, they have a good selection of "off course" shoes, cowboy boots are great to and good quality flipflops.

yep. this is the way. get 3 pair of em made so you don't have to switch them out all the time.

oh and get orthotic sandals of amazon too. that was a game changer. and if you like slip ons, oliu kai makes boat shoes that have a lot of support, I wear those more often than sandals now while boating...

Reebok has recently introduced several different shoes branded as DMX to piggyback on the original design. They aren't all good shoes.

I've been wearing the DMX Ultra 7 walking shoes for 20+ years. I think TPC wears them too. The sole has good arches and a firm air bladder support, which provides a cushion and handles long hours very well.

Thank you everyone for all of the insight. Been off my feet all afternoon, iced it a couple of times, took a 500mg Naproxen and it feels pretty good right now. Going to continue that, add some stretching and see how the next couple of days goes.

Had it years ago and unbelievable pain, almost as bad as the gout, like others have said stretching helps big time, i wore socks at night that had elastic band that stretched my foot, but the key for me was to wear different shoes, i use to just wear pretty much one pair of shoes until they wore out and then go get another, not anymore i switch between around 6 or 7 all the time and have never had a problem.

As said before... shoes with proper support is the key. Stretching exercises help, ice helps, drugs help, but they are all masking the primary issue.

I'm betting the shoes you wear day to day are wore out and have no arch support. I am notorious for wearing a pair of flip flops until my plantar fasciitis starts showing up, and then getting a new pair.

Stretching your feet and calf as much as possible (especially in the morning before getting out of bed), rolling your feet on tennis balls or frozen water bottles, and massaging the bottom of your feet and calf will help mitigate some of the pain. Cortisone shots help tremendously, but they hurt like hell to get them.

One of the best things you can do is wear proper shoes. I’ve gone to Hoka shoes (Clifton 9’s), and they help mitigate a lot of the pain when walking or being on your feet for extended periods of time. Nike shoes are some of the worst for people with Plantar Fasciitis.

Also, get a pair of “Oofos Slides” to wear around the house, especially if you have hard floors…They offer great arch support and are super soft to walk on. I also bought the Oofos flip flops for summer.

The exercise I use for my feet and ankles is to spell the Alphabet with the big toe. Once on each foot daily. I can do it drinking a cold beer anywhere.

Look up a you tube on how to tape your feet using sports tape. You will get instant relief. Then you have to have the proper shoes. Don't wear flip flops unless they have arches. Solid shoes are helpful. I learned the taping deal from my doctor.

This is probably the best summary on here. Get real insoles that are designed for PF! This is the key to it all. A few brands have decent support but they are rare. Most shoes I own, I buy, throw away the factory insole and put in good ones. My issues are basically gone. I have one pair of Filson's that still give me issues but I cannot get insoles in them due to how they fit and slip on.

Honesty, you can get good insoles on Amazon. Just search for PF insoles. I have a bunch of different brands at different price points. Most work very well. Basically, I consider that new shoes are going to cost me $20-40 more than the label. Just a fact of life. Watch your flip-flops. some are good others will hurt you in a hurry.
The one I need to pull the trigger on is orthotic slippers for around the house. Being a cheap bastard, I struggle with the $100+ for slippers. I need to though.

I found streching helps but also streching my big toes up against a basebaord for about a week helped the most.

Back when I was still playing I snapped mine. Foot started to spasm and had a big bruise on the bottom.

I had it soo bad one night I had to pee but couldn’t even stand so I had to crawl into the bathroom and sit to pee. Then crawl back to bed. From that point I stretch my feet every morning and night and I rarely get a flair up now. Only when I walk a ton and but usually a good stretch at night and all good next day.
