I know this may be a stupid question as I am sure of the answer but thought maybe I’m missing something.

The trend of girls sitting on the hatch of the boat going through the channel, is that just to show them off as hood ornaments?

Makes sense if that’s the answer. But I’m more wondering, where did that come from?

What are the boat conversations like? “Hey ladies I want you to sit in the hatch and act like you’re having fun so I can show my boat off and you.”

No Judgement btw. The human condition and psychology fascinate me and this is one of those quirks of the boating scene that I want to get into the weeds about. 🤣🤣

If you are sitting in the back seat you can't see in front of you, sitting on the hatch gives you a way better view of everything around you... Growing up at mead sitting on the hatch was common for years in the marina until the rangers started using it as grounds for hassling you.

Not legal apparently, it seems even standing up can get you a ticket nowadays. Seems silly.

For the ones sitting there, the view is better. They get to do the parade wave.

Not sure about Havasu but at Mead Racey is correct. Great way to get stopped and they will ticket you for it even in the no wake zones. Its considered transom riding and they definitely enforce it.

I do think in the channel its a bit of "hey look at me" gotta be seen.

Havasu stopped enforcing it during The Vid. It was so common I think they just gave up.

In AZ it is legal at wakeless speeds.. in California it is illegal at any speed. Both patrol the lake and the channel so take that for what it is..

If you have a railing around the back it is legal in both if the railing is from the mfg and it is designed to be ridden on.

No matter what you are going to be stopped and harassed for it by either agency as most of the Leo instantly assume it is illegal.

That said even if a California Leo writes you a ticket, the ticket is invalid because of interstate compacts they can’t enforce a law that isn’t enforceable from both sides.

That is what I have learned from @BoatCop over the years.

If I made any mistakes there please feel free to correct!

There doesn't seem to be a happy medium. There's the rental models and then there are the fat raider nation bitches. One tough on the wallet and the other tough on the eyes. Very rare to see a plain Jane with no tattoos.

Hey, most of time it is pretty hot in Havasu. Might have something to do with it? Hatch riders unite!

this thread is useless without pitchers (or pictures)

Back in the day in Havasu, most of the girls with decent bodies sat on the hatch and wanted to be seen.....now they cover their fat asses in ink 🤣 😁

Good Old Days
I wish somebody would have told me, babe
That someday, these will be the good old days
All the love you won't forget
And all these reckless nights you won't regret
'Cause someday soon, your whole life's gonna change
You'll miss the magic of the good old days

Buddy had a 42 Braginton without Jacuzzi in the stern. He had triple supercharged big blocks.

Got this image off from the net.

I had no illusions as to why I got a speedboat.... it was my "Look at Me" phase and it was fun.... and they'll be more. The right girl combined with the right boat will experience the similar effects sitting on engine hatches as sitting on an older Harley.... thats why all my past performance boats are named HubbaHubba. Its just about pleasure and being seen on hatches idling. Lets all keep our ladies happy & grinning fellas

I was pulled over in the blue water no wake zone. Wife sitting on the hatch, that has a rail around it.
The officer "Do you know why we pulled you over"
Me "No Why"
Officer " she is sitting on your hatch its illegal"
Me " As I understand it, since I have a rail around the entire boat passengers can be on the hatch in no wake zone
Officer "What state is your boat registered"
Me "AZ"
Officer "Have a Nice Day"

I wonder if I didn't state that fact he would have put me through the ringer

When I first started at BMW (as a tech) we had one female service writer. She was Very attractive and always dressed provocatively. 👍🏼

She had this one skin tight black dress, that drove everybody wild.

So one day, she comes into the shop, and the douche bag tech working next to me says to her...

"Don't you think that dress is a little risque to wear to work?"

She looks at him with her mouth open and walks right outa the shop.

She never wore that dress again.

😭😭😭

Now I'm wondering if the OP is the guy I used to work next to?

🤔😁

It’s certainly one aspect of it and sitting down editing today and seeing all the girls on the hatches made me start this thread.

That reminds me of a story, when i was a kid my dad would take me on all his side jobs. We were working at the too hot Brazil bikini company, i was 15 or so.

They had a little office were they had all the new model bikini's hanging up and they would have models come in and try them on on weekends while we worked( best job ever) the lady who ran everything was smoking hot, one day she was doing something on a ladder and my day was holding the ladder for her, she had a mini skirt on, which peaked my interest for sure lol.
She was about to climb down and my dads tells her don't fall or i will have to catch you with my face! she says great, i will fall ass first! my dad says great, you will land right on my tongue, i turned as red as a fire truck lol.

I’m 40. I don’t know why this became a thing of me being gay or the guy that tells women their skirts are too short 🤣🤣🤣

Running river_hauties, I stare at hours of footage of fast boats and hot ladies. But the channel/gorge hatch sitting just had me thinking.

When did this become a thing? Is it havasu only? Is strictly a look at me thing?

I suppose I could have added some context to my thought process. A couple weeks back I was in Parker and trying to wedge myself into a road runner beach spot between two boats. So I put two hot blondes on the sponsons while we pulled up to keep from hitting any boats on the beach as we had to deal work current etc.

It was a sight to behold and I felt pretty cool if I’m being honest.

Which made me ask the question here.

Way back before all the nannies screamed "Protect Us" and all the lawyers weren't lined up to sue somebody else for your poor judgement ---- There were Chris Craft and other boat company ads running like these. So women glamorizing by being perched on boat hatches goes way way back and was used to sell boats. 😁
I seriously doubt you'll find any boat companies promoting this today.

Closed bow, full windshield boat here. My rule has always been feet inside the boat and only in no wake zones. That being said my wife typically rides there at idle speed just because there's more airflow to cool down on a hot day.

Got that?

Here is the reality...

Its why I married my wife. No plastic. No Tats. No fake hair, no fake nails. And smoking hot. A rare unicorn!

When I read the title, "Girls riding on hatches through channel?" my mind went immediately to a closed deck boat with a Bomar style deck hatch, ya know the see thru type with cabin below. Huh, feature/benefit. Anyone else see it that way? LOL
