Awards shows and even the supposed talent contests like American Idol, are no longer about who's the best musician. They've turned into popularity contests with voting done by people who want to pander to trends, not to actual music. Haven't watched awards shows for awhile and don't plan in starting. Definitely don't watch the “talent shows” either.

Country music was as conservative as it gets, and the last few years have been nothing more than an organized mockery of traditional American culture.

Why people stream those puppets is beyond me lol.

Country music now is a light weight form of [c]rap. First I remember hearing it was Toby Keith. He spoke about it and kind of admitted he messed up, but he did good from it so why stop now.

American Idol??? What a joke. Only thing good to come out of that show and nobody there knew who he is:

Interesting. I really disliked that version of the song. His voice was so mellow and smooth. Hers sounded so harsh and shrill paired with it. I much preferred it when Randy sang it alone. The song also didn't seem to work as a duet to me.

Alan Jackson called when he published "Murder on Music Row"...

There is quite a bit of traditional country music out there, you just have to find it on streaming services and what not. Those artists won't ever be recognized at a major awards show.

That being said, Kacey Musgraves is easy on both the eyes and the ears.

Yep, “fan” based awards. They don’t mean much.

Top played for last year has Post down the list and no Beyoncé. I don’t have a problem with the new artists. All music has morphed to a become more similar. It’s more pop with a hint of country twang. I’d go see Morgan, Lainey or Ella..

So basically country isn’t country got it. Post Malone is a joke and a crybaby.

Post Malone is actually a great musician and all around good guy....I think you're thinking of Jelly Roll when you say crybaby, everyone of that guys songs is about feeling bad for himself....I don't see the hype in Jelly Roll at all....

I'm a fan of old country, and most of the newer country stuff the past 20 years really sucks (I call it "bro" country - all the BS songs about dirt roads, back roads, daddy's tractor, cornfields, home made clear, painted on jeans, on a dropped tail gate...etc etc etc etc)

That being said - I wouldn't lump Post Malone in with Beyonce, Shaboozey, and Whiney-Roll.
Post Malone can sing and while his "country" music definately caters to the current radio trending sound, I can respect what he's putting out and the dude really puts effort into his music and performances. I think he earned it.

Now....THAT BEING SAID -

"If that aint country....it's a damn good joke"

Bo Burnham nailed it pretty clearly.
You couldn’t pay me to listen to a single note of any so called country music…ever.
Nothing is more manipulative to a simple mind than today’s shit country music.
Seriously…nothing about it is creative music.

I’m just an oldschool fawk who can’t let go of identifying music with a lifestyle.

To me, Country was the epitome of the American way. I mean, isn’t that why so many people listened to it? Because they identified with the message it sent about being a good-hearted, God-fearing, and hard working American?

Jellyroll does not resemble Americana.

The fact these clowns are allowed to use country as their cash vehicle of choice is disgusting to me.

I refuse to listen on principle, mainly because I have principle.

Found this guy yesterday. When I pulled up Hank Jr. I love his reactions. They are a little long but worth the watch. He is just a year younger then me and never heard of Charlie Daniels or Hank Jr. LOL

There is still good country out there. You just go looking for it.
Corb Lund
Colter Wall
Sturgill Simpson
Vincent Neil Emerson
Charley Crockett
Ernest
Jamey Johnson
Hayes Carll
etc....

Any of those guys should scratch your old school country needs. Just throw one of them on your favorite music app, and let the app find you similar music.

Surprisingly there's a bunch of good old school country coming out of Canada right now.

I'd put Zach Top on that list.

Beyonce? WTF? Makes no sense at all. 👎

Now Ella Langley? SHE wins on looks alone! 🍆💦🚬

WHY Chris Stapleton isn't on that list is a complete insult. His music is just first class.

So fuck whoever made that list. 🖕🖕🖕

This video is really tells a great story...

For the last 10 years, Country Music has been thrown in my face, first it was my friends and now the media. Fact is people wanted it more mainstream (or listened more) and now it is. What do expect these musicians to do, at the end of the day it is about money and each of these people are businesses. Anyone remember Hootie and the Blowfish, he is no different than Beyonce in my opinion.

I went to a Country Music festival this weekend, live music never sucks...............but the song that got the most applause was a Foo Fighters song that one of the bands played....weird

The wife and I are going to "Rock the Country" in Asland Kentucky in July. Definitely a mix of genres, but all should be good. Can't wait to see Hank Jr.! Should be a good event all around! Can't wait!

Stagecoach 2025 had more non-country artists too. I was a little surprised by the lineup and felt like it was more of a music festival than a country music festival. My wife is already talking about going next year, but I'm not convinced yet. 🤷

Well that explains it completely.

George Strait, Chris Stapleton and Little Big Town will be at SoFi soon.

Decent seats will be about 700.00 EACH.

I wish I had the spare cash to go. 👍🏼

Precisely why the talent shows are popularity contests and the public doesn't know what they want as long as everyone wants it the sheep will follow.
