I have a better idea.. Why don't we let the parents be parents and let the state deal with state issues?

Take your kids out of school for a few days to head to the river and play hookie.. Come back and your son has no license becuase it's not an excused absense...

It would be OK here.

If you don't feel like going to school, it's OK as long as the child has a note from their parents. With a note, there is nothing the school can do to the child.

I agree with you and think its BS. as kids if we kept our grades up we were allowed to take days off school to go to the river. As a senior I had over 52 absences and 100+ tardies and still managed to graduate with a 3.8 GPA and honors. I dont see where the state would be right in saying I would lose my license.

In the Mesa school system, you are allowed to miss 10 days per semester. I used 11 each semester. :D

Thats fockin stupid...they are only trying to pass it because they lose money when the kids dont show up. I dont blame alot of kids...wtf can they learn in school when they have 50+ students in the classroom...more than half of which are there to fock around. Not to mention alot of the teachers just dont care anymore because of this as well....kinda loss hope.

I think this would cause them to be degenerates and because of that it can lead to worse shit through reballion....just my take.

This is stupid. Before they try to take there DL away the state should try to make sure that the teachers are there instead of firing them because of budget problems. If there aren't any teachers are the kids going to still get in touch for not showing up?

Um the system is fine the way it is now in my opinion. My buddy got too many unexcused absenses our senior year of highschool and got kicked out and had to go to continuation school. I don't see what a drivers license has to do with not going to school. Just retarded.:thumbsdown

When I was in high school the policy was if you had 5 unexcused tardies per semester you were kicked out of class. No policy on unexcused absenses...

So my senior year...maybe february...I had 4 tardees in my 1st period class. And I had one of those weeks, just couldn't get up. So I ditched first period for a week. I went to the office and got my ditch slip, gave it to the teacher the next week.

About a month later my dad called me, out of his mind about me ditching. After he calmed down I told him about the school policy...oh and that was a month ago. He tells me I'm full of it, no school would have a policy that stupid....after he talked to them, told them how stupid they were, he called me back to apologize. He said if they give you stupid rules that work against them, screw 'em.

About the DL...most kids aren't getting a license until they are 18 anyway now...

Let the school deal with their own problems...it sure isn't gonna get better with the DMV involved.

I don't understand why this has to be a state issue. These kids have a provisional license. Their parents can yank their driving priviledge whenever they want.

This has become a state issue because a good majority of parents don't want to be parents...they want to be their kids friends. Don't get me wrong I don't want to see the state get involved either but I also want to see parents man up and mind their store.

Exactly. I came very close to doing that with my daughter.

Excellent point RLM. Some parents just don't know how to raise kids. Somebody has got to keep the kids in school. Drop out rate is so very high and in the long run we all will pay when they get job or end up in prison.
