did you buy it on Amazon or other web seller? Most likely you got bamboozled, I stopped buying oil and fuel filters years ago because of all the rip offs out there

PartsVU..... bought fuel filters as well, they seemed fine

No drain back valve, "we don't ship bad parts".

I think some Mercury filters have had anti-drain back valves and others haven’t over the years.

Is that SKU supposed to?

If it mounts upside down needs a drain back valve. Mercury constantly changes who builds their filters.

It's legit... Merc has apparently changed this oil filter... Same part number
