Nice!!! Build 2 so I can put one in my boat. :beer:D

well the motor that I bought is a 502 and it was complete.. I will have a lot of good parts to build another complete 502... less the block..

it turns out that the heads that came on this motor are the 990 big port heads that were just redone... and the crank is a forged steele crank
and guess what else it just so happens to be a bow-tie block.. I really lucked out on this
so the only things Im using from this are the alt, power stering pump and all the brackets and the rear housing and coupler.. oh i think the flywheel... so all the rest of the parts I can build another motor with.. humm not bad... but I now my ass is going to hurt when this is all done.. :D

probalby not... but I wont have to always be in the throttle with the new one.. and will be able to cruz at a much lower rpm.. so I will be using less fuel... I hope... :D

the 4" air duct comes from a elect blower motor to provide added air to the carb.... it comes on with the ign... some people dont understand that 500cfm of free air ..... is just that 'free air.'.. what do you think your air vents are for in your boat...... to provide air to your carb or air filter.... I just get a lil extra with out having to be moving at any type of speed.... and yes it does work .... for all you sceptics

we just finished getting the stock motor out and the new bravo gimble assembly installed...I have sent wayne a fe pics... an as we go we will be detailing some of his wiring and cableing... we are also installing a few new transom bulk heads... because schiada cut soo much of the rear overhead transom out to get the exhaust to fit in this boat...

I don't understand why he'd install the drive and motor and then have it gelled? Seems kinda backwards to me? I'd have it gelled, then re-install the drive / motor package.. That way you can move the X-dimension up or down as req'd?

That's how Wayne Operates... He'll pull it apart again later. He's also got about 20+ cherry old cars too...

well since he has not been able to drive his boat for a while now... he has requested that we get all the mech stuff perfect... then take it all apart to do the cosmetic stuff at a later time... we are getting his boat ready for the new motor... and so that he can still use it for his family vacation.. in aug.. so the work that we are doing is some of the prep... new drive new hyd stering.. his wife wants swim steps .. that it never had.. he said she is going to love him for putting the swim steps on for her... and then when they get back from vacation. we will them do the motor swap... so he can still go out a few more times before summer is over.. I hope this explains... I will post the porgress in the dana section... thanks all

Just like your billing... Lol! :D:D

That Orange trailer looks nice. Put some blue in the boat to match the motor and you're good to go....:thumbsup I want a ride when the new motor goes in Wayne-O...:cool:

that a few test rides can be in your future! Elsinore will be as good as any for testing out the new set-up. Bobby is wasting NO time getting things done, and I'm sure that when the engine swap gets to happen, it'll go smooth! I gotta say, I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas to get here. I know I've gotta wait for it, but know that the gift will be just what I was wanting:D

Not me. I say the line from your bilge blower to your spark arrestor made a difference, you didn't have proper (enough) venting to your engine compartment.

How much for just teh whipple assy complete?

I had this built from whipple... it is custom
custom meaning.... it is a vortec style serpitine belt.. with a carb on it... the standard system is fuel injected....
I think my cost was around $5500 complete but it retailed out around $6800..

well we all know that you can achieve any # you are looking for on a dyno... so is it true humm who knows.. but the sheets and I was there watching as they pulled the brake....
@5400 rpm = 585 hp
@4500 rpm = 714 tq
but it was making over 500 foot pounds of tq @ 1200 rpm... so that was really what I was trying to achieve...

So in real life and in the boat... I would think it makes 500 hp / 600 tq
and it moves my boat loaded 6500lbs at close to 70mph on a good day 3/4 throttle.. so I'm very interested in seeing how fast and how well this motor does in a smaller and much lighter boat... should be fun..

I have yet to come across a boat that does have enough air flow to support high HP.... or any hp .. ( with a closed hatch )
