Gary just past the DCB then had a mechanical. Oh well......

Ok thanku. I wanted to know what had happened. I know Garys boat is much faster than the M31 and CRC.

I figured something went wrong. thanks for the update.

Congrats to DCB...those M's run....

Smaller boat, 1350hps, so of course its going to be a hot rod. I can't wait too see the footage from the guys. Tony knows how to drive that boat, props to Tony and DCB racing.:thumbsup

2700 hp in a 31 cat is f'n insane. No surprise for it to haul the mail, that is one bad ass boat.

What were the conditions, I'm assuming pretty favorable?

Thumbs up to Mercury Racing for building a reliable and huge hp power plant. It's amazing that this boat has been run hard for the past year time and time again without a mechanical failure.

Why do 1350's cost so much money? Because they are worth it. You can drive the shit out of your boat all weekend without bringing a spare set of motors to a poker run.

Predator was pulling past the Dcb right before the intake pump plant then one of the motors sounded like it was dropping cylinders and I noticed some blue smoke. Dcb was gone and Crc looked like he grabbed another gear(so to speak) and that was the last we saw. Big props to the 31 he was definitely on rails.

Can't argue with that....amazing the advancements they made with the new engines that even require less maintenance than the 1075's and 1200's of the past....reliability at that HP costs dearly...

About 175 Predator is just getting its shit together. To bad for the issue as I'm sure it would have been a great finish.

At what point do they start backing off towards the springs? The end comes up so quickly, takes a while for Garys 40 to get rolling. That M31 is a little hot rod, gets going so quickly, its gone.

The Havasu Springs Bay is pretty big for a shut down and wide sweeping turn.

YEs and No.

Tomorrow is what a flying mile?

Today the big dogs had the whole length from the channel to the Springs to get on it and stay on it.

Much different kind of run.

i will try to get my pictures off my camera I was on the shore at the last curve(by the light house) and the DCB was pretty far ahead at that time.
didn't see the DCB head back up when everybody else went. Predator did not sound so good heading back.

I was staring to wonder where the preliminary pix were. Thanks in advanced for posting them Mike, those of us that did not make it to the poker run really appreciate it! :thumbsup

From where I was by BML Predator had a very narrow lead on everyone else. I wasn't at the card stop though to see who made it first.

I couldn't even imagine spending so much money on a huge hp, fully custom setup for basically one event, then enter the big anticipated event and have mechanical problems. :drillsergeant:

Isn't this the bazzilionth time Predator has had engine problems at DS?

For all the money that gets dumped in to Predator I would expect Gary to be the king of DS year over. Maybe its time to find a new mechanic or a better throttle man?

Hey Boozer, I kind of have to get Garys back here even though I don't know him. He is pushing to the max, and Peto makes big power comparable to Sterling and Brummett. They are all at the tipping point, even Mercury racing. Mostly though, predator is good for the sport. Both Predators were running in group "A" today. Of course I am from Tucson. :D

Hmmm....would seem the Petos Petered Out....anybody spending the money trying to go as fast as he does is good for the sport....but there is too much material not to trash talk...:)

I wonder how much fuel they put in for this? Fuel is apprx. 6-8 lbs a gallon. So an extra 100 gallons could be the difference of awesome or cool

Gary (Predator) runs more than one event a year. He does poker runs all over the place.

When your making that kinda power the smallest thing can ruin your day/week/month. Predator will be back without a doubt.

Not a cool post. Gary is a great guy and very easy going. Predator has dominated havi for years, and in 2011 blew away everyone at DS, and at LOTO. Boat ran perfect.

Today was just one of those days, he'll be back tomrw, if they get the problem fixed. Larry's engines are reliable and fast.

btw, Gary drives and trottles, and he has many, many years in Skater's, OL's etc. He's one of the best.!

You know I have never read one thing Gary has ever said negative about anyone on here. Why is everyone talking trash to him?

Anybody what place the F32 "Bad A$$" came in to card stop 1? He's running TCM 1360s and in the mid 170s. He did around 167 at the MB shoot out. Last year.

Its all in good fun....its only to goad the Skater Nation to come out in defense....heck, I was hoping Gary finished first today.....breakage sux......but for a skater to finish 2nd to a DCB when this rivalry goes back to Defrees in his old 34 trying to beat Gary in his old Skater....it has all the makings of a good trash talking affair.....Gary does a lot for a performance boating and I respect that....but as former DCB owner, I still break out black socks to cheer for them once in while...

Roth didn't run. Had a motor issue a few days ago, testing.:thumbsdown

Sorry to hear this, I assumed he fixed the problem. His boat was down by Bildo's earlier in the week, had a partially shredded blower belt on one engine I was told.

Roth's 388 is beauitful. I watched him and Gary launch the boat at the Islander early in the week. The engines sound sick, (amazing) on the ramp...:)

First encountered Predator #1 around 2000 up at Lake Powell. What a sight to watch and HEAR that boat at a place like Powell. I also don't know Gary, but I have observed his Total CLASS operation over the years and look forward to seeing his Predator run again. Hope he can be ready for the Shoot Out. If not, I know he will be back next year.

Without any doubt he was in front (although not by much) when they passed BML. BTW, Congrats to the DCB. That kind of speed in that size of boat is very impressive.

Guys on OSO said he lost a rod.

Also second hand- he has no spare engine so if true hes out.

Bummer for Gary.

Bummer for sure..
this was the 4th big run on those motors from what I know, Im sure it just let go with no warning or Peto would have back out of the throttles to save them.. Those motors are big power from Peto and Brummett combined
